5. If the Democrats

are all worked up over a possible October Surprise, it keeps them from focussing on what's really important, such as Osama is still walking around (no, he's not on ice so stop fantasizing that), the fact that we're the only first world country without national health care, No Child Left Behind is destroying our schools, minimum wage has not been raised since 1997 and it's not as though our elected representatives and senators haven't had an increase or two of their own in that time.

I really, really wish people would stop worrying about an October surprise and pay attention to what's really important. Such as it looks as if Bush will get his way "clarifying" what interrogation methods may be used on prisoners. Such as there still have been not trials of detainees. Such as there's still no plan to stabilize Iraq and get out.

All of this is why we may well lose in November.
