When you read the translations (other than those of the American media and Israeli media) of what Ahmadinejad actually said about Israel and Zionism it's not at all like the hyped statements ascribed to him. a reporter tried to get him to declare whether he stood by an earlier statement calling for the destruction of Israel. Paraphrasing, he said, "there was difference between Zionism and Judaism." I agree.

My Jewish friends--and there are many--agree as well. Political ideology and ones religious beliefs tend to get unfairly lumped together all too often.

Fundies and Evangelicans have given Christianity a black eye with their perverse reading of the Bible. Jihadist taint Islam. The Pope and his sly backhand is a reminder of how the Crusades shaped negative opinion of Catholicism....I could go on , but I think you get my drift.

Critical thinking and a little less emotionalism goes a long way to helping people separate otherwise good people, their religion and intentions from those with an agenda that doesen't really give a hoot about them.
