"It is going to get a lot worse before it gets better"
We may hate the guy but he sure has been proved correct and I don't think the worst has yet to occur.

2. In part thanks to him
It's easy to vindicate your own prophecies when you have an active role in fulfilling them.

3. the convergence of endless war, environmental devastation, and . . .
fiscal collapse is what's waiting in the wings . . . a disaster of unparalled proportions is brewing, and BushCo's trying to pass an amendment about gay marriage . . .

5. Without knowing exactly what you are implying...
I agree. I think a lot of people have to have direct experience with things to be convinced that there is a problem. As long as it happend to someone else, or the problem is not in view, as long as it can be ignored, there are a lot of people who will deny a problem and choose to do nothing to stop it.

6. I don't know who you are supposed
to be quoting, but I've been saying exactly that for some time myself. I'm referring to the fact that I do not believe that Republicans will be out of power in either House of Congress after November, and that if the Dems are dumb enough to put up Hilary as the nominee in '08, whoever the Republicans nominate will win it in a walk.

We are still in the beginning part of a long downward spiral, and all of the wishful thinking in the world will not change this.
