***Bush Shields Dad on Chile Terrorism!***
Chilean investigators say the Bush administration is undercutting their case against former dictator Augusto Pinochet for his alleged role in the terrorist assassination of a political rival on the streets of Washington three decades ago, a crime that then-CIA Director George H.W. Bush appears to have tolerated and then helped cover-up.

Now, George W. Bush has picked up the mantle from his father for protecting the 90-year-old Pinochet from ever facing justice for the murder of former Chilean Foreign Minister Orlando Letelier and an American co-worker, Ronni Moffitt, who were killed by a car bomb on Sept. 21, 1976, as Letelier drove down Massachusetts Avenue.

Six years ago, near the end of the Clinton administration, an FBI team reviewed new evidence that had become available in the case and recommended the indictment of Pinochet. But the final decision was left to the incoming Bush administration, which has failed to act while also withholding relevant documents from Chilean investigators.

“Every day it is clearer that Pinochet ordered my brother’s death,” human rights lawyer Fabiola Letelier told the New York Times. “But for a proper and complete investigation to take place we need access to the appropriate records and evidence.” (NYT, Sept. 21, 2006)

3. Ronni Moffit was my friend...Poppy Bush is responsible for her murder....
She was killed by Bush-sanctioned thugs. I think she was 26. Poppy walks free at the ripe old age of 82.

4. An American, who had worked with the CIA, Michael Townley, placed the bomb

He was helped by some Cuban "exiles," just like the Watergate burglars.

George W. Bush released Cuban bombers Jose Dionisio Suarez and Virgilio Paz Romero not long after he stole the pResidency. They only served a few years for this double murder, and act of terrorism.

The car, and a photo of Letelier as he was arrested during the coup.
At that time, he was taken to one of the torture centers in Chile, and
he was tortured extensively before being released.
Eigth Indicted in Letelier Slaying

The Washington Post, 2 August 1978

After a 22-month investigation, a federal grand jury here yesterday indicted the former head of Chile's secret police DINA) and seven others in the bombing death of former Chilean ambassador Orlando Letelier on Washington's Embassy Row. The indictment of Gen. Juan Manuel Contreras Sepulveda, a close associate of Chilean President Augusto Pinochet, was believed to be the first ever returned in the United States against a high official of a foreign country's intelligence agency. Contreras, two DINA operatives in Chile and five Cuban exiles living in the United States were charged by the grand jury with plotting, carrying out and covering up the September 1976 murder of Letelier, a prominent and outspoken critic of the Chilean government at the time. The explosion that ripped through Letelier's 1975 Chevelle also killed an aide, Ronni K. Moffitt, and injured her husband.

The Chilean government last night announced the arrest of Contreras and two other Chileans named in the indictment, DINA operations director Pedro Espinoza Bravo and DINA agent Armando Fernandez Larios. In a statement issued by Interior Minister Sergio Fernandez, Chile said all three had been placed under military detention. The Chilean statement came hours after Assistent US Attorney Eugene M. Propper reported that the United States government would ask for the arrest and jailing for extradition of the three. But the request for extradition was expected to touch off a complicated legal proceedings. The indictment accuses Espinoza of ordering the assassination during a meeting in Chile and Fernandez of coming to the United States to spy on Letelier so that the assassins would know when to strike. The Cubans, members of the New Jersey-based Cuban Nationalist Movement, a militant anti-Castro group, are accused of helping to carry out the bombing.

The 15-page indictment was explicitly detailed because of the cooperation with US authorities of American-born DINA agent Michael Townley, who has agreed to plead guilty to planting the bomb. The indictment outlines with precision the alleged plot that resulted in the 9:30 a.m. blast on Sept. 21, 1976, on the placid Sheridan Circle area of the embassies, chanceries and diplomats' homes. Letelier was killed instantly when the bomb atop the A-frame of his car ripped up through the floorboards under his legs as he drove around the circle. He was on his way to work at the Institute for Policy Studies, where he had become internationally known for his outspoken criticism of the Chilean military regime. Ronni Moffitt was sitting on the passenger's side of the front seat. She died a few seconds after the blast as she staggered from the shattered, burning car. Her husband, and IPS co-worker, Michael Moffitt, suffered slight injuries. The Letelier car came to rest against a Volkswagen parked within 100 yards of the Chilean ambassador's residence, and set the stage for a massive worldwide FBI investigation into the first diplomatic assassination here.

Also present were:

* Félix Rodriguez, one of the Watergate burglars and the head of the
drug operation in El Salvador's Ilopango base that allowed the
Nicaraguan contras to buy arms, financed by cocaine sales on U.S.
territory. A buddy of George Bush I and Otto Reich, both of whom
covered up his activities, Rodriguez was closely linked to terrorist
activities by secret organization Omega-7, responsible for several
attacks and assassinations.

* Huber Matos, head of Independent Democratic Cuba, who
"distinguished" himself in the dirty war in Nicaragua.

* Armando Pérez Roura, a Batista follower, Alpha 66 member, leader of
the terrorist group Cuban Unity, involved in various criminal
activities in Miami, hysterical announcer on a well-known terrorist
radio station. Over the years Alpha 66, led by Nazario Sargent, has
instigated and organized many terrorist raids on Cuba (all of which
failed). In Miami, he continues to openly advocate the absolute need
for violent actions without any interference by the authorities. His
son also trafficked drugs.

* "Specially" invited to the event were killers Dionisio Suárez
Esquivel and Virgilio Paz Romero, who had the pleasure of personally
thanking their benefactor George Bush. The two men were freed by
President Bush in August 2001 (just before the September 11 attacks),
after being imprisoned for the murders of Chilean Ambassador Orlando
Letelier and human rights activist Ronnie Moffit on a Washington DC
street! This horrendous crime was denounced throughout the entire
world, except in Miami of course.
