:sarcasm:

I guess that's the new "MEME", but a dumbass blonde on Maher and convince people that it's not torture it's coercion - we're going to gently beat the shit out of people in hopes the unload some form of the truth that may or may not help the US

3. Right-wing framing...
Just make it sound a bit gentler and it would sound better for everyone, after all "torture" is just a bit harsh.

So just reframe it, that is what the RW seems to be good at, any way the Dems going to counter-effect this?

BLue

6. Dems can counter the RW framing by asking one simple question
(I posted this in the other thread - I really think the Dems need to start calling out the Repugs on this issue)

The question:
"If it's not torture - merely 'coercion tactics' - would it be alright with you if other nations used those tactics on captured US soldiers or US citizens arrested in their countries?"

The fact is ... once we cross that line, other countries WILL use those tactics against US soldiers and perhaps even US citizens they've arrested. How can we possibly bitch about it? If WE set the new standard, we can't complain when it's used against us! :-(

5. She said "We aren't cutting off limbs or killing them or anything"
I guess if we eventually sentence prisoners in one piece and alive, they can't call it "torture"

If these compassionate conservatives want to redefine torture, they have to understand it will be the new standard applied to our soldiers unfortunate enough to find themselves in enemy hands.

I don't think they're gonna like hearing that a Marine was water boarded.

In fact I think if an American soldier was dressed in women's underware and the photo was on Al Jazeera....They'd be screamin' for nukes.

7. Maybe she could volunteer to be filmed being waterboarded
sort of like when Katie Couric had the colonoscopy on camera, as a public service to us all.

8. So, it would be alright if US soldiers would be "coerced" if captured?
Any American POW could be "coerced" and Republicans think it is alright? Water-boarding an American soldier is acceptable for Republicans?

If WE torture POWs, why shouldn't other countries do the same to our soldiers?
