If you do any web development the plugin library is very useful. Even if you don't there are man good plugins for grabbing all photos, bookmarking all links, etc.

Plus it works the same cross platform.

11. Don't know if you're kidding or not,
but I hate every program I've seen that MicroSoft has put out.
If I could find a replacement for Word, I'd definitely use it.

12. Not kidding!
I hate MicroSoft. Not just because of their business practices and because everything they've ever done they copied from Mac, but because...well, it's just too many to list. My brother used to work for the California State Government, and had to work on a PC. Hated it like hell. He called Microsoft "The Borg."

I used to have a KVM switcher where I worked before, to toggle back and forth between the PC and the Mac, and got to renew my distain for PCs. Sure, there are many things that can be done with PCs, and they've become more similar of late, and Apple had dropped the ball when they could've licensed their software, but there's a really good reason why Mac-heads are so loyal: it works, and works beautifully.

14. Yep. I've only owned Macs.
I didn't have to upgrade Word for 7 years. I was looking forward to fixes and improvements they must have made -- only to find that it's 100% worse than what I had before.

The only smart thing Gates has ever done has been to plagiarize Apple.
And market his junk infinitely better than Apple.

BTW, love your screen name

18. I have it, but really haven't really gotten into it much. I have MS

Office at home and at work and it's good enough for my purposes. I downloaded Open Office more out of curiosity and was thinking of putting it on my (little used) laptop. It looked ok to me and and if I didn't already have MS Office at home I'd probably be using Open Office instead. But again, I haven't really gotten into it. And I have a Windows machine, not Mac (looks like you need OS X 11? to run it), so can't say what difference there may be on a Mac.

There's also a free open source stand alone word processing program called Abiword. http://www.abisource.com/support/require/ I haven't tried it at all.

Depends on what your needs and uses are whether this stuff might be worth playing with. It costs nothing except hard drive space to download and try. These apps are supposed to be compatible with MS files so you can go back and forth (like from work to home, for example). You could ask in the Computer forum here or search around the net for user feedback. Depends how much you really prefer not to use Word. But at least there are alternatives to the MS Borg which is always good to know.

21. Microsoft Windows or Microsoft Intenet Explorer?
It works with Firefox on Microsoft Windows.
It does not work with Microsoft Internet Explorer.

If you prefer IE over Firefox,
just use Firefox when you want to download a video.

23. Once you update FFx...
Turn on the automagic updates and never get left behind again.

This is important because FFx is becomming a target for crackers. The team's doing a pretty good job keeping up with updates, (even when the security hole is outside of FFx), but it does no good if you don't have the update installed.

25. No Problemo.
There are crackers (IMHO including the DOD) who command vast banks of cracked home PCs from which attacks may be launched. Companies have been extorted.

From someone who remembers using UUCP and bang-path email addresses. ;) Back when there was only email, usenet, and then BBS networks like FidoNet, and we walked in the snow to school, uphill, both ways.
