Our forefathers never envisioned the present "non-oversight"..

..by the US Senate or House. It was an oversight of our forefathers that they did not envision an America where the people were not in control. The power was to always be with the people - never with a "President" or any one man. Yet, that is where we are today. How did we get there? And how do we change?

As this one man, the President, is considering an attack upon another nation on the other side of the world, as our military is clearly depleted and unable to fight another front, the US Senate and House sit idly by or voices approval. When are they going to sit down and read the Constitution and do their job as outlined in that document? The President does not have the power to declare war on anyone, anytime he likes.

Which is more important to this oversight - the US Senate or the House of Representatives? It's obvious that we have permitted ourselves as a nation to slide into this critical situation? It may take more than one election to pull ourselves out, if it is not too late...

totally the will of the people and disregarding the laws of the Constitution and their responsibility to uphold those laws and to oversee that we did not have another King George take over...Regardless, perhaps it is time?

And realized that at some point the rich, powerful and greedy would control the levers of government, and thus it would be time for we the people to regain our government and democracy. Yes, it is time.

I wonder where Bush got his thoughts from? Surely not at Yale and Andover. I do not understand this trashing of the Constitutions at all. Unless he really thinks he has a calling from God to lead us some place. It is un-American.

8. what i find most disturbing

is the lack of Checks and Balances and the eventual loss of the Three Branches of Government.

Bush's plan for the detention and torture is proof that We are no longer the country our forefather's envisioned.

Bush might not have gotten all that he wanted from "the deal" but the wording in his original version should make every American angry! Specifically, his attack on, and dismissal of, The Supreme Court is unprecedented.
