(CBS/AP) The French defense ministry on Saturday called for an internal investigation of the leak of an intelligence document that raises the possibility that Osama bin Laden may have died of typhoid in Pakistan a month ago but said the report of the death remained unverified.

"The information defused this morning by the l'Est Republicain newspaper concerning the possible death of Osama bin Laden cannot be confirmed," a Defense Ministry statement said.

1. We don't want this information being Defused. We want it to explode!
Anyone know what word the French use to get us to that verb?

3. France investigates bin Laden 'death' leak
PARIS, France (CNN) -- French President Jacques Chirac said on Saturday he would investigate the leak of confidential French defense ministry documents containing a report that al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden is dead, and said that report has been in no way confirmed.

"I was rather surprised to see that a confidential note from the DGSE (General Directorate for External Security) was published and I have asked the minister of Defense to start an investigation immediately and to reach whatever conclusions are necessary," Chirac said.

"Secondly, speaking of the source of the information itself, this information is in no way confirmed."

U.S. intelligence officials said Saturday they could not confirm the report suggesting that bin Laden might be dead.

4. They will probably report that Amelia Earhardt was found too.
Any distraction will do. Rove is working on pretty white girl disappearances right now.

7. I think this is a very interesting wrinkle...
think for a moment

if thereis speculation that OBL is dead,
has been dead for month or whatever
then we cannot claim to have killed him or captured him, can we?

this almost feels
as if the French, or whoever is responsible for this 'leak'
are sticking a pin in little George

9. they've known for almost 5 years that he's dead:
. . . An Egyptian paper posted on December 26, 2001, ran an obituary on Osama bin Laden whose death resulted from lack of proper medical care for "serious lung complications." A Taliban official told the Pakistan Observer that he saw bin Laden’s face before the burial in Tora Bora where some members of bin Laden's family, friends and al Qaeda fighters gathered for his funeral. Asked whether he could pinpoint the spot where bin Laden was buried, he answered, "I am sure that like other places in Tora Bora that particular place too must have vanished," implying that it was obliterated by U.S. aerial bombing.

According to Washington Post (Oct. 28, 2002), the Arabic-language al-Majallah obtained bin Laden's will from a "very reliable" source in Afghanistan. The will — typed, signed by bin Laden and dated December 14, 2001 — includes verses of Koran and the words of a man "who appeared desperate and on the verge of death." . . .

The creature has been dead for years but the doctor is still tormenting us.

you would know it.
