I really doubt that recurrent rumors of his death, or any of the many videotapes (of dubious authenticity) that have appeared over the years, including the famous pre-election 2004 one, ever changed more than a dozen votes anywhere. At most, they provided handy rationales for improbable election results that would better have been explained by fraud. Nobody changed their vote because of Bin Laddie, but everyone was willing to think that other people would do so, and bought that as a causal explanation for Bushco's otherwise baffling "victories."

At most, if true, the current story deprives Rove of a minor electoral theft cover story. More likely, the whole business is of no significance.

Either way, I don't intend to give any energy to the speculation mill

Since he cannot seem to be caught it is better to dismiss his importance to millions of Extremist Muslims. Better yet, that he has died. That takes the onus off of the Busholini Regime for screwing up at not capturing him at Tora Bora. If he has died there will be no more mention of him in a few months from now. A new boogy man will take his place.
