Next Blue states

I made a thread like this earlier this year or late last year, but now that public opinion about certain issues has shifted I wanted to ask this question again. What states have the potential to turn blue in future election cycles?

1. Virginia, Colorado, and Nevada

And we'll get back Florida, Iowa, and New Mexico. I also think that the right candidate could help us be competitive in Arizona, North Carolina, West Virginia, and Arkansas.

2. close campaigns to support

On a similar note, I would like to circulate a list of close, winnable races that would ensure a House or Senate win, with the contact info for donating to those campaigns. I think it would be worthwhile if such a list were posted on the DU site for all of us to circulate. Has such a list been compiled or can one be compiled?

8. Well, if we turn enough blue, they will all turn red...

It's kind of funny -- blue actually isn't the color of democrats, it's the color of the minority (opposition) party. Technically if we take the senate and congress in the 2006 Majority Chairmanship Elections, the news media should flip everything around and make republican blue and democratic red.

My guess is it doesn't happen. Too much has been invested in the meme.
