Florida DUers: Is Katherine Harris gaining "hoementum?" - Only down 15%
Edited on Sat Sep-23-06 04:04 PM by Ignacio Upton
This is actually a serious thread about Katherine Harris. She's gaining ground in two polls. In Survey USA, she's only down by 15%. In Rasmussen, she's only down by 23%, instead of 28%.
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/2006/State%20Polls/August%202006/FloridaSenate.htm
http://www.surveyusa.com/client/PollReport.aspx?g=23ecb6a6-a7a4-418d-bf15-fbee26f86f80

I'm wondering if it's just a primary bounce, or if she's actually gaining "hoementum" as enough brain-dead Republicans are flocking back to her, despite the implosion of her campaign? While some may say that I'm being alarmist, I don't take anything for granted, especially if the election involves someone like Cruella DeVil or Ken Blackwell (although I've seen nothing to indicate that he's gaining on Strickland.) What's going on in Florida? Have any of you noticed any "surge" of Harris support in your towns or cities?

1. I think if she uses all her money, mortgages her house, sells her
car(s) and sells herself into bondage with a Saudi Arabian prince, she has a shot. And I think she should go for it.

Go, Girl, you can do it! You've got a seat waiting for you in the U.S. Senate!

2. Bondage with a Saudi prince!?!?!?
I'd hope that he forces her to put a burqua on!

3. Depends on which poll you look at or want to believe.
I happen to go with this one and believe it it more accurate.

5. I don't think that Survey USA is in on something like that
Although I can see Strategic Vision (a Republican polling firm that actually showed Harris doing worse against Nelson than any other polling company) showing her only back by 10%-12%. I could see them rigging their poll.

11. They can't steal 'em all. I think Harris is their sacrificial lamb.
I think that Bu$hco will let her lose, point to her disorganized campaign as a reason for her losing, and forever trot out Katherine Harris' loss out as proof that they don't steal elections. Unless .. unless it looks at the last minute that the GOP will lose the house. Then they will steal that MoFo in a pair of seconds, if they possibly can.

7. If the polls continue in this trend
I won't be surprised. Like I said, I don't take anything for granted. I honestly won't be surprised if we LOSE Senate seats in November.

Polls can be fixed (manipulated)...she wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to them?

9. Take Katherin Harris' own advice.....
..."You can make polls say whatever you want". (google it) And I DO believe her. If anyone would know about manipulating polls, it would be Katherine Harris. And now that the Bush boys are supporting her, the numbers will probably go higher.

And then....... those "miraculous Republican voting machines" will kick in.

(Better have a lot of Dem poll watchers down in Florida.)

10. Here is how I will know whether the Repukes are trying to steal
Edited on Sat Sep-23-06 04:26 PM by rzemanfl
it for her. Samm Simpson is running for Congress as a Dem in FL-10 but doesn't having any financial backing from the Democratic party. I don't think Young is worried enough to bother to steal votes from her. If Samm gets more votes than Nelson in any precinct-those are the ones that were flipped to Cruella-and don't give me that shit about "women voting for women." I didn't believe that about the 8,000 plus Bush/Castor votes in Pinellas in '04 and I ain't buyin' it now. On edit, by that I mean over 8,000 Kerry votes were flipped to * in Pinellas in '04.

Do any you have any indication that Cruella is getting hoementum?

ever speak to anyone stupid enough to consider voting for Cruella so I have no idea.

15. I was just wondering how things look on the ground
Things like bumper-sticker and lawn sign counts, as well as hearing people casually talking about the race (if anyone not interested in politics actually gives a shit about a Senate race.)

20. So far I have seen only one of her bumper stickers in a heavily
Repuke area (at least that's what "they" tell us). I understand lot of people will be putting "Dagmars" on their front bumpers in honor of her boob job though. (If you are young, look it up.)

14. Cruella has been keeping a somewhat low profile
probably a good move on her part since everytime she opens her mouth her numbers plummet. I guess by staying out of the headlines some pukes are indicating tepid support for her... or perhaps the polls are merely outliers. I'm not aware of any groundswell of support for her, outside of the fundie/koolaid drinker circles.

And speaking of fundies, they seem to have only tepid support for Charlie Christ. Not sure of that will keep the fundies home on election day, robbing votes for Cruella; or if Cruella can inspire a significant fundie turnout, thus helping Christ.

Issues that seem to be of most importance are skyrocketing property insurance rates, property tax problems, lack of affordable housing, and *'s war in Iraq. IMO, Dems haven't yet communicated to voters how they will address those problems, and how that differs from the pukes. And Dem party structure in the state is still disorganized, compared to the pukes. Cruella should get slapped down in Nov, but I'm not highly confident of Dems chances in other races.

16. But those fundies are a BIG part of Florida's electorate
Although I hope that a lack of enthusiasm for Crist helps keep them home do they don't vote for Cruella. ALso, I agree that her lack of bad news may be responsible for her rise in the polls.

21. Wouldn't surprise me
I don't think that Nelson will win by 30%. It will be more like 15%-20%. There are actually conservatives out there who are willing to hold their noses for her to prevent Harry Reid from becoming Senate Majority Leader.
