OMG....Must see political cartoon
Wow this is a very funny cartoon on class struggle and political parties dominated by big-business interests are seen as a cat-and-mouse game in the not-so-mythical land of Mouse-land.

3. That got me Googling about Tommy Douglas
Here's one hit: http://archives.cbc.ca/IDC-1-73-851-4969/politics_economy/tommy_douglas/clip8 He's known as the father of Canada's socialized medicine. I'll keep Googling. There's so much of Canada that's directly relevant here.

5. I am glad you folks liked it
I just happened to stumble upon it by accident and while watching it, I have to say, it blew me away. Very clever cartoon.

Thanks for the link pnorman.

10. I didn't realize until just now, what a treasury it is!

I'm listening to what was probably one of his first political speeches (1935). I suggest everyone else to check them all out (that's a 65 year time span!), and perhaps Google further.

pnorman.
On edit: That was J. S. Woodsworth's speech I was listening to. ("J.S. Woodsworth has big plans for his grassroots party, the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation. Woodsworth, an ardent pacifist and social democrat crusader, is stirring up talk with his radical political platform as Canada continues to struggle through the Depression. In this campaign speech, Woodsworth describes the swelling ranks of the CCF party and the growing support for a Canadian social welfare program. In the 1935 election the CCF sends seven MPs to parliament including Saskatchewan's Tommy Douglas.)

9. Mouseland is famous. IMHO, it's why the NDP became strong ...
We should be able to easily see, now, that there's no viable equivalent to the NDP in our "two-party system." (And, of course, all "real Democrats" know that the Greens are evil, right?) The Democratic Party is essentially the equivalent of the (not-so-)Liberal Party in Canada, and the Republican Party is essentially the equivalent of the Conservative Party, even if further 'north.' Neither the Democratic Party nor the Liberal Party were as far right as they are today. In Canada, an alternative party (NDP) met the 'free market' demand for political representation. In the US, that 'free market' doesn't apparently exist.
