So much has happened since 911 but this torture thing, 70+% approval on
a C Span vote, the fact we are even discussing this is just tooooooo mad.
:wtf: :wow: :scared:   :yoiks: :hide:

3. Not in reTHUG "minds."
They think they're only making it legal for US to torture those we choose to designate as "terrorists."

If anyone else even looks at our people wrong, they'll be detained as potential terrorists and tortured... legally, of course.

Got it?

Yes, it's insane.

But it's a perfectly logical extension of the sandbox bully's "do as I say, not as I do" attitude. I've known a few people like this and they're all basically alike.

4. Yes, and that's the whole point.
When our troops get tortured, the Chistofascists can stir up bloodlust in the populace and use that in elections. Your mistake is in assuming that the Christofascists don't want our troops to be tortured, when in fact they have everything to gain from it.

5. We absolutely are.
No way can we call "foul" now if our troops are tortured. We have lost any and all right to do that, because of this "compromise" bill.

And I agree, niallmac: it's absolutely unbelievable that the topic of a compromise was even up for discussion.

10. And how long will this become de jour for
American Law Enforcement? The War on Terror can easily be used against American citizens. See Jose Padilla. America, took a morally degenerate road when the compromise was made.

6. Sure. If we are free to redefine ,rewrite, reinterpret, so are other
countries

but how much ya wanna bet America still has the nerve to try and prosecute those who do to our troops exactly what America does to other people?

Hypocrisy, thy name is America.

The argument is..."they" (any "they" will do) would torture our troops regardless of what we do

and that's true as far as it goes....if you are willing to torture you will do so regardless of the law or circumstance...just like America has been doing for years now

however, America sings it's own praises of being better and civilized and how we respect human rights

When we so clearly do not

There is no such thing as torturing for a higher purpose....torture is torture...it's wrong regardless of who does it and no matter how "legal" it is

Being "legal" doesn't change anything...after all, everything Hitler did was legal.

He would never authorize any torture against a US soldier.

See? It's so easy to unnerstand.

I cannot believe we that we, as a Nation, have come anywhere near this point.

This whole thing just makes me ill.

And to think that I fought for this country only to have it come to this really pisses me off.

11. Yes.
But most importantly, we are condoning our sons and daughters to commit torture in the name of our country, under our flag. And if that doesn't make your stomach turn over with a sickening green thud, I don't know if anything will.

But these people don't care, because neither they nor their children will be one of the troops.

17. REPUBLICANS hate OUR TROOPS
I just want to shout it out.
Dems allow Repukes to tun everything upside down, and we say nothing back. Just take it and take it, until one year it became 'just the way it is'.
