SCHMIDT PLAGIARIZES POLICY POSITIONS
This Week's Op-Ed Identical to Press Release by Deborah Pryce

Cincinnati, Ohio – Jean Schmidt added another blatant deception to her long list of publicly-exposed lies this week when she published an op-ed about Medicare Part D in the Community Press and Recorder that is almost identical to a press release issued by Congresswoman Deborah Pryce (R-Columbus) on July 10 of this year. She also published the op-ed on August 30 in the Piketon News Watchman and in the Adams County People's Defender.

"If we can't trust Jean Schmidt to give us her own opinions on basic political questions, then we can't trust her to represent us in Congress," said Dr. Victoria Wulsin. "This blatant act of plagiarism isn't just embarrassing, it's downright insulting to the voters in this district. Jean Schmidt has absolutely nothing original to say. She can only regurgitate what the Republican Party tells her to say." The plagiarism was discovered through a program that monitors high school and college student papers for acts of copying and forgery.

This scandal is nothing new for Schmidt, who has been repeatedly reprimanded for dishonesty and outright lying. In March, the Ohio Elections Commission determined that she had falsely claimed endorsements from several politicians and interest groups, including Tom Tancredo and the Family Research Council. Then, on April 28, the Commission unanimously voted that Schmidt displayed "reckless disregard for the truth" by claiming to have a college degree that she did not actually possess.

"This solidifies Schmidt's record of shameless deception," said Wulsin campaign manager Mary Huttlinger. "The only question that remains is what her next fib will be."

1. She was busy winning marathon races, she had no time to write.
She recently falsified her athletic record as well. Why can't Jean Schmidt tell the truth? And if she can't tell the truth on simple things like winning a running race, how can people trust her to represent them in Congress?

4. The latest poll has the race as a close one
According to this news story, a poll on Wednesday, September 21 had Schmidt leading Wulsin, 45% to 42%, with 12% undecided. That's pretty good considering how heavily Republican the district is. (In last year's special election, Paul Hackett was praised for losing to Schmidt by only 3.5%.) The poll was taken before the latest revelation about Schmidt's plagiarism.

5. I didn't know the odds Hackett faced, but he did well
I just don't understand how anyone, no matter how right-wing, could vote for this twisted little lemon-sucking bag of dirt. I really don't.

3. she and katherine harris are apparently cut from the same cloth.
they both appear to deal in truthiness to the extreme.
