like the rest of the majority of the House and Senate? How do we know they would know whether this rumor is true or false? There doesn't seem to be any evidence for the Bin Laden rumor, but the rumor makes a lot of sense given the timeline of events. If the rumor were true, Bush and Rove and the Saudis would not tell us at this time. It is not a politically convenient time for them to reveal such a fact. And given that the Bush administration seems to be composed almost if not entirely of habitual liars, unfortunately, the fact that they are denying that Bin Laden is dead supports the suspicion that he is dead just as well as it supports their assertion that he is not dead. It's a draw. Harman and Spector have no evidence either way.
The only way this rumor can be dispelled is for Bin Laden to finally come out in the open and show himself -- not just via weird videos but in the flesh. Let's face it, if Bin Laden is not dead, he is not man enough to actually appear in public. Odd isn't it -- that such a man believes that men far younger than himself should sacrifice themselves and martyr themselves for their cause, but he does not even have the courage to speak publicly or let people know where he is. Even Bush, despicable as he is, is not afraid to show his face in public. Did Mohamed hide away like that in his day? Surely organizing armed attacks on innocent people and then hiding away in a cave for years and years is not a tenet of the Muslim religion. A man who encourages others to give their lives for a cause but won't risk his own and hides away in the remote mountains to save his own life is a coward. Even Bush, who did not have the courage to serve in Viet Nam has traveled to Iraq and Afghanistan into the war zones -- granted with a lot of security all around him. If Bin Laden is alive, and if he is a man, and if he truly trusts God, let him prove it by showing his face to the western world in some form other than a video he has made or some cowardly act of terror on innocent people.
If a totally false "reality show" can be fabricated and shown on Open Space, why couldn't Bin Laden's videos be fabricated and shown on TV. Let Bin Laden come forward and prove he exists and is alive and well. Whether there is or is not proof of his death, where is the proof he is alive? It should be easier to prove he is alive than to prove he is dead. The burden of proof is therefore logically placed on those who claim he is alive. Spector and Harman -- and Bin Laden -- what is your proof?
