Willful blindness (Republican beauty)
Edited on Sun Sep-24-06 10:15 AM by Gregorian
Laura found that the poets she invited were readying to speak the truth about the war. And she hastily cancelled their date. Barbara has a beautiful mind by just not looking at the ugliness.
They call it beauty. We call it hypocrisy.

Divorcing from the process is the center of this most evil blindness. Only looking at the surface. Not taking the effort to see beyond the obvious. If you just look at the fluid that flows from the gas pump nozzle; If you just flip a light switch; If you buy pork in a plastic package without knowing, then George Bush is just the president. And we're fighting them there instead of here. And you deserve by divine right, to have a two ton vehicle to roll around in. And gasoline to fuel it, like the flow of water in a stream. It's your right. Unless you see beyond the nozzle.

We all have to be blind to a certain degree in order to live in this society. Modern society requires that services be performed for those who pay, by those who produce. And more than often, what ensues behind the scenes is ugly.

If we know what happened beyond the nozzle, then we are in control of our behavior. How blind do we need to be? Do we want to be? It IS important to know that when one turns on a light switch, a tiny lever on a steam generator governor turns ever so slightly, increasing the flow of fuel to the turbine. It's not just some lever on a wall. We do have an affect down the line. We ARE attached. That slab of pork on the butcher's shelf was afraid, not long ago. That lumber was timber. It's an unnatural world where we can simply grab the final result without doing it ourselves. We have a responsility to see. Maybe not to know the details of percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty, but at least those things that lead us to the place where we stand today. Invading, killing, torturing. And they ARE tied together. They do have a connection.

Laura couldn't have heard the truth. It would have been too painful.

Roses are red, Violets are blue... It's trivial.

Cash moves everything around me,
Dollar dollar bill y'all. ...That is not trivial.

We can't afford to have beautiful minds. It is responsible to know. And the Republicans are relying on our ignorance. No, they are helping to create our ignorance.

Is your beautiful mind causing hell somewhere?

1. We don't mind ferigners being wrapped up in capitalism, as
long as it's our capitalism they are wrapped up in.

Although completely suppressed in the U.S. media, the answer to the Iraq enigma is simple yet shocking - it an an oil CURRENCY war. The Real Reason for this upcoming war is this administration’s goal of preventing further OPEC momentum towards the euro as an oil transaction currency standard. However, in order to pre-empt OPEC, they need to gain geo-strategic control of Iraq along with its 2nd largest proven oil reserves. This lengthy essay will discuss the macroeconomics of the “petro-dollar” and the unpublicized but real threat to U.S. economic hegemony from the euro as an alternative oil transaction currency.

2. That's why Hugo is getting Bush's goat.
I think my post didn't get the attention I thought it deserved. I believe I'm on to one of the main facets that would help us to understand the conservative mindset. It seems so difficult to concieve of anyone who would not be totally alarmed by their country engaging in terror. It is so hard for me to even understand how anyone can be a hypocrite. Or even lie. But when I started putting the "beautiful" minded people together, and seeing how the society works, it started making sense. I mean conservative, and the entire society as consumers. We both have something in common, but the conservatives go from where liberals are, and soar to a new level. It's my discussions with my personal friends and family, who are very liberal. Things like global warming. There are very liberal people who would not change their ways, even knowing that global warming is happening. And that got me very worried and upset. I just think my post is a way of seeing the other side's mechanism. I think we need to start dissecting the conservatives. We are running from their vicious attacks. But we cannot afford to do that any longer. We must start winning this game, or things are going to go down the drain. I'm not optimistic. But we have to try.

3. Gosh, I feel so sad having to bump my own thread.
Am I really that odd that this didn't ring true to somebody?

Maybe it seems trivial. I'm trying to cut to the basic core.
