FTN: McCain says "Senor Wences" while calling Chavez "despicable"

John McCain was interviewed on Face The Nation this morning. This former Viet Nam POW had just finished defending the use of torture by the Bush Administration. While referring to Hugo Chavez several times as "despicable," McCain threw in a quick reference to "Senor Wences."

McCain: "We were just saying off-camera, 'Senor Wences'." He waggled his hand in the duckbill motion familiar to those old enough to have watched Ed Sullivan back in the day.



This smear at President Chavez as "Senor Wences" was racist and it was despicable of McCain to use it-- aside from the fact it made no sense. Just a little xenophobic slur thrown in for fun. Well, Mr. McCain, there is a reason you'all said it "off camera" and it should have stayed there.

McCain’s “Senor Wences” slur proves Chavez’ points about Imperialism. The arrogance, racism, detachment from reality and Inside The Beltway privilege of cluelessness are hallmarks of the "model of domination" that Chavez was denouncing:

The point of the OP was that McCain's despicable comment (while calling Chavez despicable) was a good example of what HC called "Imperial Hypocrisy."

I (incorrectly?) assumed that you were repeating a meme recently popular on DU (not by you) that *it's no surprise these Rabid Wingers are racist bastards so-what's-the-big-deal?*

In this case, that smackdown SEEMED to miss the aspect of McCain's comment underlining the arrogance and cluelessness-- and "obvious" racism-- of the Reich Wing. Similar to the "macaca" on camera comments.

It also shows how these Inside the Beltway In Front Of the Camera bad actors forget that there are real people watching them.
