1. the plan to militarize space is laid out by PNAC
Read "Rebuilding America's Defenses" - it's all there. Space wars. They actually talk about it seriously.

2. At one time, Britain thought it owned the seas
And you know what? It did.

Then its naval power ceased to be so dominating as other countries increased their naval power, and now it's far from owning the seas.

But for a while, it really did. And for now, the U.S. does own space, in the same sense. It also won't last, but let's not kid ourselves that it's a moral issue. It wasn't for Britain then, and it isn't for the U.S. now. It's a power issue.

8. right, why do we already have a de facto ownership?
because we're the only people there. No one else goes to space on anything resembling a regular frequency, we spend the most money, have the best technology and the most experience. in the 33 years since we last landed on the moon, who else has been there? What other nation, or conglomerate of nations, sends humans into space? (Russia, yes, but they are the only competition at this point, and their program is much smaller)

5. They probably will claim the moon and Mars too.
Edited on Sun Sep-24-06 01:44 PM by Cleita
I have an idea. Let's build a space colony on the moon and send all the PNAC neo-cons and Christian fundies there. It shouldn't be hard to convince them to go. Just tell them that Armageddon is coming soon and they can watch it from the moon while they are waiting to be raptured.
