The last person in the world you'd think of with "lofty ideals"
Here are the words being applied to the most unlikely of all people:

"Lost Horizons"
By ADAM NAGOURNEY
NY Times
Published: September 24, 2006

"...There was time for such indulgences in the days before a hurricane roared through New Orleans and the country turned against the war Bush had launched in Iraq...
Now the lofty ideals and bold ambitions of Mehlman and Rove often seem in direct conflict with the short-term survival instincts of Republicans who want nothing more than to get past the next election."

From Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary

Lofty

1 a : "elevated in character and spirit : NOBLE <lofty ideals> b : elevated in status : SUPERIOR"

Ideals
1 : "a standard of perfection, beauty, or excellence
2 : one regarded as exemplifying an ideal and often taken as a model for imitation"

**************

Oh yea, I see it so clearly now:

OK Karl Rove & lofty ideals

Let's see lofty, elevated in character and spirit, noble. Who is more noble than Karl Rove?
Ideals are about perfection, beauty, excellence. Again what could better exemplify ideals than the lifetime pursuit of dirty tricks, lies, and smears of opposition candidates?

Yea, that's a good one, Adam.

1. I was able to read the first couple of pages
and will read the rest after my nausea subsides. This is one of the most sickening articles I've read in a long time. Adam makes absolutely no pretense at objectivity, and twisted truth like a pretzel when presenting the Republican point of view. I'd really love to read something by the "liberal" media that according to him and others has a choke hold on the media. I have been unable to find anything more than a few progressive columnists, The rest has all been as unfair and as unbalanced as Faux lies about.

The use of "lofty" in connection with either Mehlman or Rove is downright false, and I think that we all know it. Lofty ideals? That was one of the phrases which brought on my nausea. If those two are Nagourney's idea of men possessing lofty principles, I would hate to see who he considers vicious, lying, corrupt men, who will say or do anything to achieve their goals.

2. Your stomach must be stronger than mine. I just skimmed some of
the first page.

I couldn't agree with you more. I heard it on a podcast of NY Times headlines, and had to go scroogle it to find out who in their right mind or wrong mind would say such nonsense.

Adam N. is a loser.

:puke:

I get Rich, Krugman, Dowd, Herbert Op-ed podcasts and they've been taking on the admin a lot for a while.

I also get Freidman and Kristof's Op-eds which are interesting and worth hearing.

I know it is in Times "select" so you have to pay 50 dollars a year or so, but for me it is worth it.
