Heads up - something's breaking tonight about Macaca Man.
According to Josh Marshall at www.talkingpointsmemo.com:

Uh boy. I hear there's more about to pop on ye olde George Allen N-word front. Apparently, in the next hour or so.

That was posted about 2 hours ago. Marshall is still waiting for the story to break.

1. Larry Sabato verified the 'N-Word' story.
On Hardball earlier this evening.

I think that's what Josh is talking about - He's even got the YouTube video up on TPM, which he rarely does.

Allen is toast.

25. They both graduated from UVA in 1974.
Considering the political path that Larry chose and the fact that George went on to lead the "Young Virginians for Ronald Reagan" group, I'd say the odds are pretty damn high they knew each other.

After he received his B.A. in government from the University of Virginia as a Phi Beta Kappa in 1974, he did a year's graduate study in public policy at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.

And this:

Allen attended the University of California, Los Angeles for a year before transferring to the University of Virginia, in 1971, where he received a B.A. degree with distinction in history in 1974. He was class president in his senior year at UVA.

After graduating, Allen completed a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1977. In 1976 he was the chairman of the "Young Virginians for Ronald Reagan". Allen was a supporter of Richard Nixon and the Vietnam War, although he did not serve in that conflict, taking a student deferment instead.<8>

Yes, I know it's Wikipedia, but I'm short on time. I'm sure other DU'ers can come up with other sources to back it up.

Keep on rockin' in a free world!

12. Let me pull that back.
Josh has got the Sabato video up, and a link to the guy in the NYT -

but he says neither one is what he's waiting for. Says that one's yet to come out.

Must really, really be bad...

GFA, Jr. should definitely start looking for another line of work.

16. Holy shit!
From the Times link:

<snip>
Dr. Shelton, a radiologist now living in North Carolina, said that on a hunting trip Mr. Allen had sought out the home of an African American and affixed the head of a dead deer to the mailbox. And Dr. Shelton said Mr. Allen had also called him “wizard” after Robert Shelton, who used the title “wizard” as a leader of the Ku Klux Klan.

“He wanted to know if I was related,” Dr. Shelton recalled in an interview. “I said, ‘No.’ ”
</snip>

Jesus - how did such a sick fucker get to be a Senator?:wow:

8. Just a thought
but don't you think the more you use that M word the more you're encouraging it to enter into your own language as a common word ?

9. Tweety has been hammering on Sen. Macaca most of the evening
in interview w/ Larry Sabato, Director of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia, Sabato said that he has personal knowledge that George Allen has used the "n-word". However, Sabato refused to say he had heard it firsthand (i.e. directly from the macaca's mouth).

I've sent it to my newspaper. Hopefully they will report on this as well.

15. Doesn't matter if it's true
Rovian politics with the tables turned. A little swift boating, a little whisper campaign. It'll be fun to watch them try to denigrate a university professor and a radiologist, and who knows how many others will now go public. This could be very entertaining.
