Film maker discovers the typical Red Stater

Please note: If you live in a red state, do us all a favor and don't get all bent out of shape. We know you're normal, but you live amongst a majority of dingbats. If you get offended by the term "red stater", you are acting like a...well...red stater!

From the article:

A red stater: "I think we lost more than we gained with civil rights," she says. "I hope to see them repealed....I don't know where you folks were when we were trying to hang on to states' rights"

The film maker: "While I began the trip feeling that the Bush administration was craven, cynical and dangerous, I didn't believe that their average supporter fully shared their views. But I learned that there really are many people in this country who don't believe in the Constitution and want to see it replaced by their version of the Bible."

3. This man just ran into the core 30 percent of Bush's base

If you want to know where Bush or any authoritarian now and future could possibly get the numbers of people in uniform needed to round up huge segments of the US population and imprison them in concentration camps, just look at these people as willing recruits of Bush.

4. I live in a red state - NC - and yes, it is really scary....
so, we have here the bible belt influence - churches everywhere. big article in our newspaper yesterday is on how these oh-so-devout people can't get houses that are big enough - say, 10K square feet is up their alley. They believe in Christianity by convenience - as long as it doesn't impact their extravagant lifestyle, as long as they can live their chosen, comfortable life out of sight of homeless, needy, etc....

I have some pretty good friends who are on the right - our friendships are definitely strained, because they are so blinded to what is happening to our country, they are living afraid - of everything...they hide behind their faith. so, so sad.
