1. This is too good.
Just making him defend himself will kill any chance he has - won't have time for much else. "But I DIDN'T put the deer head in the mailbox, honest!" - to every voter and reporter.

and mispronounced the name of a country in Africa....
And, uh, he meant beer's head, not deer's head. I'm not a racist - I loved Amos and Andy, they were such funny nig....ociators. They were great negociators of comedy."

5. Sure. We have him on camera using another racial slur
If he'd never been caught on tape using a racial slur, it would be a simple case of he-said, she-said. But in this case, he's been caught using another slur to describe an African-American. I'm sorry, but I'm not buying his denial one single minute. If he's still using hateful slurs, there's a damned good chance he was using them back then.

8. He also denied
knowing that "Macaca" was a slur, and denied his Jewish heritage. It's not much of a stretch to imagine he's denying these charges, too.

9. Classic political advice from LBJ re: opponents
"Make the SOB deny it"

It occurs to me it might be time for DEMS to begin calling Bush and Cheney and the GOP "soft on terror" at every opportunity. Don't need an actual reason or rationale for it (although misguided war instead of going after the real...etc works well enough, for example). Why not?

Make the SOB's deny it.
