1. I know. I went there with an article linked to and clicked on the logo
Edited on Mon Sep-25-06 11:34 PM by Pirate Smile
to see if that article was listed prominently. It took me to the homepage where the top story was "Intelligence officials say we ARE SAFER".

It is like crazy, opposite day over there.

4. Article about Clinton
And did you read the article about President Clinton. First I think their intention all along was not to have an interview about the Clinton Program to raise money for charity. I think they had planned to slam him about the 9/11 attack to take the heat off bush over Iraq. They are trying their best to lay the blame for 9/11 attack on Clinton.

The republicans are trying to take the heat off bush. Next thing you know they will try to put the blame on Clinton for bush's mess in Iraq.

They said that Clinton ran from military duty. Wasn't that something bush and every member of his cabinet except rumsfeld did. President Clinton was going to college as a Rhodes scholar during the Viet Nam War. BUT didn't he ask for his name to be put back in the bowl, so to speak when he came back to America. But the conflict in Viet Nam ended before he was called up. Now bush, he got daddy to get him a place in the guard, which were not called to duty like bush has done those today. And didn't cheney get five deferments, and didn't rove get deferments for going to school and then dropped out of school.

Then they said he was lying about him trying to hunt out bin laden and bomb him. It made me sick and I stopped reading it.

Could you in your wildest dreams even ten years ago have believed that there would be a news station that posted lies like Fox does, AND THAT THEY ARE ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH IT. What in the hell has happened to this country. People are openly being racist. The put ads on TV that are out and out lies. They make movies that are fiction and present them as the truth. And people accept it. I am 74 years old. And I can look back on the time in this country when we were civilized when he watched TV and listened to the radio and knew that the reporters and commentators were telling us the truth. We had investigative reporters who went after the truth. And when he had a corrupt biased senator it was a newspaper reporter who went after him and we found out the truth.

The press in this country will never recover from the lying bunch of assholes we have now...how can they look into that camera tell the falsehoods that they do, and know that MOST of the Americans watching know they are lying. It is a wonder they can even read the prompters.

6. Sadly, this was predictable, this media mess
If you look back at articles from the late 80s and early 90s, especially when the Fed released restrictions on news content and media ownership rules, many people predicted the rise of propoganda machines, the loss of disversified views, etc.

Watching it happen has been a tragedy. At first, I thought they would lose the media war. I didn't expect the would actually be able to manipulate a presidential election - twice.

My whole family watches fox religiously. It's pathetic. It's embarassing. I tell them this each time I see them watching fox - it's like talking to crash dummies.

7. DON"T FORGET--FAUX won a court case "It’s Legal for Press to Lie"
http://baltimorechronicle.com/lyingislegal_apr03.html

Fla. Court Rules It’s Legal for Press to Lie
Source: Sierra Times

....

A Florida Appeals court ruled on February 14 that it is legal for press organizations to lie, conceal, or distort information. The decision, which reversed the $425,000 jury verdict in favor of Fox Television journalist Jane Akre, declares that no law is being broken if false information is given in a television broadcast.

In the August 2000 trial, Akre charged she was pressured by management and lawyers to air what she knew and documented to be false information in a story about the use of growth hormones in dairy cows. The six-person jury was unanimous in concluding that Akre was fired because she threatened to report the station for pressuring her to report the false information.

Fox’s ....attorneys argued that the First Amendment gives broadcasters the right to lie or deliberately distort news reports on the airwaves.

In a written decision, the Court held that the Federal Communications Commission position against news distortion is only a “policy,” not a promulgated law, rule, or regulation.
