Our local Southern Baptist church has gone bonkers lately with sermons, ads, phone calls, and emails proclaiming the end of the world if republicans dont retain the House & Senate. They are comparing the trashing of Bush to the crucifixion of Christ.

Lot's of folks in these parts howl and yell and scream about DINO's. I don't particularly care for them my own self, but if voting for a DINO will help take at least the House back, I'm all for it. Like I've said many a time, if you are unhappy with your DINO Rep or Senator, but there is no solid Dem challenger, then hold your nose or whatever you need to do, and vote for them.

AND THEN, GO AFTER THEM. You don't like the stance they took on the Iraq war? Fine. Then demand answers. You think they aren't paying enough attention to the issues you think are important? Then put your boots on and keep kickin' 'em in the azz until they start listening to you. Don't, for God sake, stay home, arms crossed, pissy look on your face, and refuse to vote.

As WillPitt said the other day, we HAVE TO look at the big picture. You aren't happy with the Dem candidate? Fine. I understand. I feel that way about Maria Cantwell (D-WA), but I'll be damned if I'll help Mike McGavick (Repuke-WA) win the fucking election.

It is unrealistic to think that all the candidates running in November of this year, or in ANY year, are going to meet our own personal standards down the line. But if we look at the larger picture, look at the Democratic Party, taking back at least one branch of the government, that's the most important thing. I have confronted Cantwell on more than one occasion. I will vote for her but I won't give her a skate. She's supposed to represent me and many other people in Washington State. And we better damned well hold her to that. It's not just up to her. It's up to US, too!
