U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris, whose race for the U.S. Senate has produced its share of fodder for the media, has been invited to be a guest this week on MSNBC's "Hardball with Chris Matthews."

The Longboat Key congresswoman, who is facing incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson in the November general election, is hoping this national appearance will give her the opportunity to address issues such as lowering taxes, making the nation's borders more secure and trimming the federal government's fat, said Harris spokeswoman Jennifer Marks.

During her last appearance on Aug. 31, guest host Norah O'Donnell asked Harris if her campaign was a "fool's errand," considering Nelson was projected to be ahead almost 40 points in the polls.

Harris responded by saying that polls could be made to say anything.

When asked about the campaign contribution scandal involving Congressman Duke Cunningham and the fact that she was questioned in the case by the U.S. Justice Department, Harris said the people of Florida weren't interested in such matters.
