"The 9-11 Commission Report" refutes Rice's Claims

Page 197 (paperback edition- Chapter "Threat To Threat, Sec. 6.3 Attack on the Uss Cole"):

"As the Clinton administration drew to a close, Clarke and his staff developed a policy paper of their own, the first such comprehensive effort since the Delenda plan of 1998. The resulting paper, entitled "Strategy for Eliminating the Threat from the Jihadist Networks of al Qida: Status and Prospects" reviewed the threat and record to date, incorporated the CIA's new ideas from the Blue Sky memo, and posed several near-term policy options".

<snip>

page 200

Rice made an initial decision to hold over both Clarke and his entire counter terrorism staff... She decided also that Clarke should retain title of national counter terrorism coordinator, though he would no longer be a de facto member of the Principals Committee on the issues.

page 201

"Within the first few days after Bush's inauguration, Clarke approached Rice in an effort to get her- and the new President- to give terrorism very high priority and to act on the agenda that he had pushed during during the last few months of the previous administration. After Rice requested that all senior staff identify desirable major policy reviews or initiatives, Clarke submitted an elaborate memorandum on January 25, 2001. He attached his 1998 Dlenda Plan and the December 2000 strategy paper. "We urgently need... a Principals level review on the al Qida network", Clarke wrote."

and plenty more if you read on.

Condi, you ought to read the report before you open your lying mouth.

Are you talking about her appearance on 60 Minutes? I tried to watch it but was completely disgusted when she tried to compare the situation of the Iraqis to that of Americans slaves. I couldn't watch after that.

Clinton did not leave plans to fight al Qaeda: Rice

Did YOU Spot the Blatant LIE? Did You?

Look at the headline ... go ahead.

Clinton did not leave plans says Rice.

Got that?

Are you sure?

Okay ...

Read this quote:
"We were not left a comprehensive strategy to fight al Qaeda," Rice said in a transcript of her comments released by the State Department.

"For instance, big pieces were missing, like an approach to Pakistan that might work, because without Pakistan you weren't going to get Afghanistan," Rice said.

Got THAT?

Header is misleading (I'm understating here!)

Rice ADMITS the Clinton administration DID LEAVE a plan to fight al Qaeda. WHY? Because she could not claim "big pieces" were missing in something that DIDN'T EXIST.

Okay ... that was blatant.

NOW ... Can you spot the REAL LIE?

It's about Pakistan ... IF you know anything then you know that Pakistan has refused to allow US troops into the border regions SINCE 9-11 occurred and Musharraf remains firm on that so ...

READ AGAIN what she said ... without Pakistan you weren't going to get Afghanistan.

ISN'T THAT exactly what we DID?

THIS WOMAN IS LYING THROUGH HER TEETH.

21. So lies from the Secretary of State can be refuted on Amazon?
We no longer have a 4th estate. There are no more journalists. The media is officially propaganda. It's Orwellian when they state such obvious falsehoods knowing that no one will ever call them on it. The official story will be what they want it to be.

This is not her first lie. Remember:

No one ever could imagine planes flying into buildings?
The PDB (which Ms. aggressively fighting terror in 2001 hadn't even read before 9/11) was only a "historical" document?

Mushroom cloud?

Do they ever discuss and analyze her? No. They talk about a future Presidential candidacy or running the NFL. If Clinton's outburst doesn't start a new era of actually discussing things as they happened vs. how the Bush administration wishes things happened we have truly crossed over.

Anyone paying any attention in 2001 can remember that terrorism was so Bill CLinton. The new regime was all about missile defense remember? It wasn't a list of priorities of the DOJ. They started a comittee to come up with recommendations to deal with terrorism (after throwing out CLinton's just because it was Clinton's) and the committee never ever met. How is that aggressive? Will anyone point this out?

Edited on Tue Sep-26-06 12:33 PM by EVDebs
titled Khan Job also refutes Condi. Check it out !

www.gregpalast.com/detail.cfm?artid=312

"A top-level CIA operative who spoke with us on condition of strictest anonymity said that, after Bush took office, "There was a major policy shift" at the National Security Agency. Investigators were ordered to "back off " from any inquiries into Saudi Arabian financing of terror networks, especially if they touched on Saudi royals and their retainers. That put the Bin Ladens, a family worth a reported $12 billion and a virtual arm of the Saudi royal household, off limits for investigation. Osama was the exception; he remained a wanted man, but agents could not look too closely at how he filled his piggy bank. The key rule of any investigation, "follow the money," was now violated, and investigations-at least before September 11-began to die. "

why the capture of Bin Lden was not whole heartedly pursued by Bush. Do they know something about the Bush family dealings that the public shouldn't know?? Pressure by the Saudis to ease up on Bin Laden?? There is certainly something fishy why Bush is conspicuously loyal and loving with the Saudis.

could no doubt fill many ledgers if the CIA waterboarded a few of them in custody, don'tcha think?

Like with most mergers of wicked and powerful entities, it would only take one major blow-up between the two for either of them to turn on the other in a heartbeat, I figure.

Little wonder that the Bu$hCo klan wanted to ward off any investigations that might have put the Saudis in the middle of a squeeze play.

http://winsmith.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/9/11/105117/571

Why 9/11 happened: Bush curtailed Operation CATCHERS MITT
by leveymg
Mon Sep 11, 2006 at 07:51:17 AM PDT
The Bush Administration cancelled or cut back Operation CATCHERS MITT, the highly classified ongoing CIA and FBI operation that tracked al-Qaeda operatives known to be inside the U.S. during the summer of 2001. This was done without notifying the existing counter-terrorism policy board in Washington, then headed by Richard Clarke, a Clinton holdover.

This fatal decision by Bush's national security staff was part of the planned revamping of the Clinton counter-terrorism program, and ongoing operations were put on hold or cut off entirely while Rice and Hadley worked with CIA Director Tenet on the Administration's new al-Qaeda strategy.

SNIP

This raises the question, what info did Condi and the NSC Principals continue to get about surveillance of al-Qaeda cells that Clarke no longer had access to during the summer of 2001?

That statement bears repeating:

The Bushes managed to ingratiate themselves with a number of the world's richest, most authoritarian regimes. They're the nexus of the movement to loot, dismantle, and offshore the assets of the United States of America.

I've only recently begun to recognize just how true this is. But it makes perfect sense, and I should have seen it sooner. It seems like a plan that could have been hatched by Prescott Bu$h and further developed by GHWB to cover all the bases (and of course all their Bu$h asses).

What better position could they be in than to have cozy "allies" among the world's most authoritarian regimes? That way if everything ever DID blow up in their faces here at home, they could simply fly the coop and seek sanctuary in a place where no one could ever reach them.

Not in the Chimp's lifetime, anyway.

When I watched GHWB flip the coin at the Saints/Falcons game last night, I could hardly bear to look at him for even that long. All I could think of was how much harm he and all his family have brought on our nation and our people.

To think that none of them will ever have to answer for what they've done is just ... unthinkable.
