Does anyone care about Saddam Hussein's trial?
I hear occasional news blips about how he's behaving badly in court. It seems like such a sham to me that they're even going through the motions of having a trial. The US was so sure he was plannning to destroy humanity it was worth INVASION. Now he's innocent till proven guilty? What kind of "Democracy" is this?

2. I'm not sure how to take this
Military action is a tool of foreign policy - it's one of the mechanisms whereby nations interact. All our posturing aside, we did have a problem with the nation of Iraq before we invaded - they had dangerous leadership. So we invaded. Now it was the wrong decision based on faulty information, we all know that now.

A trial is a tool of the nasceant Iraqi justice system. Saddam is being held accountable for the crimes he committed. The fact that the nation of Iraq happened to be innocent of much of what we accused them of, does not make Saddam innocent of other crimes he has committed.

3. Nope. I'm just interested in the carrying out of his sentence, which
should, with any luck, come around October 17. Someone correct me if that date is wrong but I believe that's when sentencing is scheduled for.

10. Convict him. Sentence him to "time served." Put him back in power...
in Iraq-nam. Allow him to raise the electrical output to where it was before the Bush Morons took over. Allow him to reduce the daily violence to pre Bush/moron levels. Allow him to return the gasoline supply in Iraq to pre Bush-moron levels. Allow him to stop the sectarian fighting to pre Bush-moron levels. And allow him to kick Iranian influence out of the country like he had done prior to the Bush-moron takeover.

Then we declare victory and can spent the next 4 to 6 years trying to repair our military to pre bush-Repug days.

4. No. It's become a circus atmosphere, unless you're one of the
judges who got murdered. But Saddam ranting, going on hunger strikes, loving Hollywood, blahblahblah, I'm not so interested. It was never about him anyway imo despite what's been said.

9. Exactly - "It was never about him anyway"
But he would have stood in the way of Neocon goals. Does anyone really believe that Bush Cheney Rumsfeld care if thousands of Kurds were murdered? They probably admire Saddam for that.

5. No, because whatever it is for, they are sure he is guilty and have
no need to look into that.

maybe the captured saddam was not real ant the trialed is real I don't know

Last week, American authorities arranged a meeting of the former Iraqi dictator with his wife.

She was the first of Hussein’s relatives to meet with the ex-leader of Iraq at a new place, at the American military base in Qatar. Accompanied by Sheikh Hamad Al-Tani, Sajida Heiralla Tuffah has arrived from Syria on his private jet in the end of March.

The outcome of their meeting turned out to be quite scandalous. Sajina claims that the person she encountered was not her husband, but his double. If someone were to say for sure that it was not insinuation, it would have been easy to believe the wife with a 25-year experience. It is also possible to assume that Saddam has simply changed since the day of his sons' deaths, June 24 2003. This however is highly unlikely. In case we believe Hussein’s wife, all DNA testing of the ex-Iraqi leader should be considered a mere fake. Overall, today there remain more questions then there are answers.

12. Yes and you spelt
his name correctly which is more than I did ! Maybe rumours of his death were greatly exaggerated and he's out there alive and well. Can you just imagine how funny the trial would be if it were infact Richard.
