I've been shut out for the second time in 2 days..

Can't get my posts registered, get an error message..
Anyone else suffering from DU SHUT OUT?

Firefox crashed on me a few minutes ago....I've lost my favorites folder. I haven't rebooted, but this is the 1st time that has happened.

I've been here a very long time..
Took a brief vacation (1yr) from the fray..

The only time in memory, this forum was forced down was
when it was deluged with posts from right wingers during Election 00'

I wouldn't be surprised if it's happening again..

11. Personally, I think it has something to do with the google ads

the ad at the bottom of the page has not loaded properly nor timely for me for about a week. Now the error messages I was getting this morning indicated to me that the google ad at the top of the page was what was dooming the loading of the page.

I think it's the google ads and I know they are adding revenue (which is why I leave them turned on) but they are a bit of a problem lately.

Even google's Image section of their page had been down for the morning, at least for me. That might have something to do with why the pages stopped loading at the top ad today.

Just a guess, but it makes sense to me.

I have firefox though and couldn't get back in for about 20 minutes. However I could get to other lefty sites.

Wow, am I glad to read this. Yes--for almost an hour, every time I tried at noon and after, it went to a blank text screen, "Query failed: ORDER BY *, UNIX TIME-STAMP" etc. Every time; I thought the devil had shut down the DU site ("order by *"); then I wondered if DU was shutting ME out. I never did get through by clicking on DU web address; I had to go to Google, think up a title, then click on that DU thread link on Google. From there, I went to the home page and it was all right.

Usually a notice posted in the upper right hand corner of the page.
The maintenance takes place about 3pm PT...12am est..

I thought it was just my computer until I tried KOS. KOS was down at the same time DU was.

I could get on to Google and Yahoo and other sites. Why would they both be down at the same time?

Maybe it was KO's Countdown and their were too many users at the same time? Is that possible?

Rationally I know it's a glitch but some pretty devastating things are coming out right now against the (p)Resident and his men...I wouldn't be surprised if DU was the target of an "attack".
