1. It proves
there are idiots around the globe and the USA ain't an exception. With the religiously insane who claim to be christians plotting and planning and hating on a daily basis we have become the rule.

2. Which one of those guys is different from the other two?
If you answered Bush (or "*"), then you're wrong. The one who doesn't fit in this trio is Mahmoud Ahmedinejad. Venezuela suffers from runaway street crime and the United States suffers from runaway corporate crime. Venezuelans are subject to street crime and urban decay while Americans suffer from economic violence and urban decay. Bot countries have a middle class that's getting screwed.

Ahmedinejad is the one leader in this picture who actually is advancing the genuine interests of his country. He's not a nice guy and I don't like his politics of theocracy and homophobia and the hand that Iran played in tricking the neocons into taking out Saddam for them may never be fully known... but ruthless as he is, he's taking care of his nation's business and making his country stronger and more secure. Chavez is as good at handing out relief to the poor as Bush is at handing relief to the superwealthy, but they're both leaving their countries poorer and muore vulnerable than how they found them and creating long term problems that will haunt their homelands for generations to come.

You may not like Ahmedinejad--but you can't deny that he's getting things done to the advantage of his country.

4. I disagree- it's chavez
The other two are puppets of others. In W's case it is Cheney, in Ahmedinejad's case it is the Grand Ayatollah. But really, the point of the toon is that "Democracy" ain't a magic bullet, and it doesn't lead magically to make countries elect "perfect" leaders. What it does do is to tend to provide leadership that reflects the nature of that particular nation's psyche (unfortunately).

12. Agreed. Democracies get what they deserve more often than not.
I don't let this country off the hook because Bush lied to us. It's a scandal that Bush is a liar, but if we had the capacity to see thru the WMD lies and the "liberate Iraqis" lie and the "tied to al-Qaeda" lies... so did the rest of the voting adults in America. With the capacity to choose right, we as a nation chose wrong. Until we on the smart side of the fence can wake the country up enough to bring a change in government, we'll continue to deserve the sorry ass leadership squatting in the People's House.

That said, Iran's president is achieving his goals & earning his salary and America's president is not.

7. Gosh, gee whiz. Is it just a coincidence that Iran and Venezuela just
happen to be two countries tremendously rich in oil?

With so many incompetent, insane, bloody dictators on our planet, why has our unbiased media ... (sorry, time out for a barf break after that media statement) ... chosen to devote so much attention to Iran and Venezuela? Is BushCo interested in their oil? Nah, couldn't possibly be.

10. Perhaps there needs to be some test for voters.
Given that such clowns have been elected by the voters, it would seem to make sense that voters be tested to show that they have some minimal understanding of what they are doing. To gain the privilege of being allowed to vote, perhaps a short test in Civics should be required of all. Of course a brief manual covering the subject should be made freely available to all, so that anyone of average intelligence could study it and pass such a test. That would at least rule out mob rule IMO.

15. Hitler won a plurality of the vote in a highly fragmented election, & then
... he siezed power by manipulating an octogenarian president of the republic. All along the way he used strongarm tactics to intimidate opponents and wow thuggish supporters. Not exactly an exempler of small-r republican principles.
