Can you think of one type of competition in which one entity is allowed to do whatever they want to win, and the other one is not allowed to fight back because fighting back makes them look whiny, defensive, and drags them down to "their level". Tell me one type of competion where that is a winnning strategy.
Has anybody informed the Democrats that elections are competitions that need to be won before they can hold any kind of office? Are they aware that the Republicans are not mapping out strategies to govern alongside the Democrats, and to take the best aspects of each party to make America great? No, they're trying to eradicate the Democratic party. They're trying to either run them all out of office, or push them so far to the right that it doesn't matter.
Do they understand that the world is a competitive place, and when people see how weakly they compete against Republicans, it doesn't instill faith that they can compete with other world leaders, clerics, terrorists, etc.? So here are the rules for this election, set forth by the Republicans, because well, it's only fair that they should set the rules since they're the ones in power:
1. Republicans count the votes. Republicans decide which voters get purged from the rolls. If Democrats disapprove of their methods, they should keep quiet because they don't want to sound whiny, or like conspiracy theorists. Americans hate that 2. Republicans can start any nasty rumor they want to about their opponents. Democrats should never retort--it only validates the rumor, and brings them down to their level. And as we all know, Americans don't listen to idle gossip, they vote for the guy with "character" who runs a clean campaign. 3. Republicans can make up any facts they want to. Challenging them again lends credence to them, better to let them float out there and see if they right themselves. Using computers to check facts makes you seem like one of those crazy computer hackers. Repulicans have been calling Democrats crazy for years, so we better not do anything that fulfills their stereotype of us. Probably best to do nothing at all. 4. Artists and celebrities who are usually largely Democrats, should know their place and never speak out against injustice. After all, they're not politicians, and no one likes to see some pretentious actor, director, or author speak out in a national forum about what's happening in the world. That's for our Republican religious leaders and CEOs to do.
Well good luck next month, and let the best team win. As long as the Democrats don't win by too much, because America loves underdogs, and we don't want them to hate us if we win too big.
