Meredith Viera interview w/Carville/Begala on Clinton interview:
Why on earth do interviewers like Viera, for example, come on a show with absolutely no facts, or pretending not to know the facts that are readily available. While interviewing Carville and Begala thismorning, there wasn't a hint of sincerity in her questions. They were posed in an antagonistic way, which I believe rather than trying to find the truth, were posed to get a reaction. How on earth can you go into an interview without basic knowledge of the truth. Is there no research done anymore? On whether Clinton had left any plans for the Bush administration, she just spouted the facts that Rice said there weren't. Is there no way for her to check this beforehand? Truly pathetic. And it's just not her, it's the way it is done now.

1. If Dems have to bring the facts themselves and prove the facts,
then they have less time to actually defend the facts and make their case.

All they have time to do is read facts, which the interviewer can then challenge.

This hinders their message and cuts into time when they would otherwise be giving detail on Democratic positions.

That's why the media does it that way.

15. Giving Meredith the benefit of the doubt, I don't think she is up to speed
just yet...She seemed a bit stiff and uncomfortable...It takes time to be a political junkie.
I think she will improve with time. I don't think she will LIE for the (R) if she is coached
beforehand with the facts.

16. You and I were watching a different interview then...........
She was quite aggressive and combative in my view, which more than covered up any stiffness or awkwardness there may have been.

3. And her interview sounded like it. She isn't any better than Katie
was/is. No matter, I stopped watching The Today Show years ago for just this reason.

5. We need to ALL go to the polls this upcoming Mid-term election
to also help PROVE to the whorish corporate M$M that they are almost irrelevant, i.e., the people do not believe their lies and go elsewhere for their news.

I would love to see the looks on the Executives' / Suits' faces when they FINALLY realize that those whom they dismiss as "The Chattering Classes" have had quite enough of their Wall Street Driven Political Propaganda. :grr:

NBC, I knew that something like this was going to happen. She was never like this on The View.

22. Viera has journalistic credibility of a game show host
You're talking about a woman who is so concerned about her journalistic credentials, she hosted a game show.

Do you think Pat Sajak should be offered a network anchor job, too?

4. These are the same newspersons who in Prez Debates
... have the supporting facts where either of the candidates mispoke or got their facts incorrect... within 5 minutes of the end of the debate so they can analyze the questions/answers.

But that's NEWS... not NEWSINFOTAINMENT. <wink>

25. She has always seemed like a middle of the road type
I know that she used to bash Clinton a lot, but was for a woman's right to choose. She and her husband participated in the march against the war during the 2004 Republican convention. Apparently her husband is very Liberal.

11. Why on earth do interviewers like Viera, ...................
Because these are not journalist. These are folks hired based on their looks or political connections.
They are given a few things to remember, a TelePrompter to read from and the most rabid republican or weakest democrat they can find.
Followed up by a well oiled spin machine.
and Voila!

18. Roy, if you knew what you were talking about..
I'd care.. Meredith has paid her dues. She started as an anchor on my local news channel..
And will eventually get it right..

21. What the heck does paying her dues........
have to do with her doing her job in an honest factual way? She didn't, and that is a fact.

27. By your standards Rush Limbaugh will eventually get it right.
After all he got his start right here in Missouri.
Anyone spouting right wing talking points is a right wing shill no matter how experienced or inexperienced.

By the way, when did you get to be the arbiter of what I know.
Whether I know what I am talking about or not, I am still entitled to my opinion.
I already have at least one other poster who thinks people should submit their opinions to them for prior approval.

Sorry, but you will just have to get in line.

19. I kept waiting for Begala and Carville to reference the R's opposition...
...there are a zillion quotes out there from Republicans who were yelling "Wag the Dog! Wag the Dog!" when Clinton did his initial anti-terrorism bombings in the late 90's. You'd think the Dems would have mentioned this by now, but maybe they're afraid of resurrecting the Monica/impeachment days by association. Fools!

If we can't make our arguments cogently and USE THE FACTS THAT SUPPORT OUR POSITIONS, we don't deserve the American public's support.

24. It was a little
embarressing to hear Carville, for the 3rd time mention what a heck of a fund raiser BC is for the CGI.
When he was sitting there for an entirely different reason..Carville, is basicly a good soul, imo..but he
spends entirely too much time listening to Mary's spin: :)

26. Meredith will go where the money is. There is nothing she has to say
that would matter to me. She has very poor judgement which was evidenced when she married a man who had MS and then had three children with him. The man is nothing to look at so it wasn't for love. He was a wealthy Jew so she married him for money and position. For that she was willing to put her children at risk to have MS too.

I stopped watching Today because Couric, Lauer and Al got on my last nerve. Meredith only made it worse.

On The View Meredith did too much talking about sex and drinking. She certainly is no role model for children or anyone else. It's no surprise that she now has moved to the right wing.
