Ann Elizabeth Miller, a former mathematics teacher and wrestling coach at Highland High School, faced up to one year in jail as part of her plea agreement.

She also pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count of showing harmful matter to a minor.

Miller was accused of inviting students around the age of 15 over to her house, touching at least one in an inappropriate way and showing a student things children should not see.

Deputy District Attorney Carla Grabert-Lowenstein argued that Miller should serve the full year in jail because she needs to be taught a lesson about the gravity of the crime.

Miller is one of three female teachers across Kern County who have recently been accused in separate cases of molesting male students. One of the teachers received a plea deal and no time in jail and another teacher is awaiting trial.

Three in one county? What's in the water out there?

Either this shit never happened when I was a kid, or no one seemed to complain about it.

BAKERSFIELD - A former Highland High school teacher accused of inappropriately engaging in sexual behavior with a 15-year-old male student entered a plea Tuesday.

Ann Elizabeth Miller, 27, pleaded no contest to a felony count of lewd conduct and a misdemeanor count of showing harmful manner to a minor. Two other charges against her were dismissed.

Miller faces up to a year in jail and three years on probation. In addition, she will be required to undergo counseling, register as s sex offender and will never be able to get her teaching credential back.

Her attorney, Gael Mueller, said she had been suffering from an emotional disorder when she began a sexual relationship with the student at the northeast Bakersfield High School
