Bolton Nomination dead, so Rethugs cancel Darfur Hearing

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee had a hearing scheduled for this Wednesday to talk about Darfur and the critical situation there where millions of people are at risk of dying from war, famie, drought and so forth. US Amb. to the UN, John Bolton was scheduled to speak there and talk about what the US was doing to help out.

Well, since the Bolton nomination in the Senate has been cancelled because they don't have the votes, apparently the Repubs have cancelled the hearing. First they moved it to Thursday, now it's postponed. Another instance of 'compassionate conversatives' doing what they doing, saving their own asses from embarrassment.

4. I am of two minds on this

On the one hand, it was John Bolton testifying and that is it's own kind of awful.

But to cancel an important hearing on a humanitarian crisis where millions are at risk of death because it's politically uncomfortable is just reprehensible.

So much for values of any kind, family or otherwise. These people are scum.
