Gets people every time. You see, people cook it too long and it slimes up. I can't even stand gumbo where the okra was put in too early.

Try a few fresh (really fresh--no black spots) pieces steamed for about 5 minutes on top of a pot of young black-eyed peas (fresh from the garden--not dried ones) with snaps. No slime and lots of nutty flavor.
