I, for one, am glad that Chris Wallace blindsided Clinton
It gave Clinton a chance to set the matter straight. It's about time that a Democratic leader had the balls to stand up to the right wingers. If Wallace had just asked him nice, respectful questions, then we would not have see Clinton fighting back. And as a side benefit, it seems to have energized the Democratic base as well.

Because of the confrontation, the issue of Bush being asleep at the wheel is coming back onto the front burner. More and more evidence of Bush's incompetence (which most of us here at DU have known about) will make its way into the mainstream media. And at just the right time.

He should not ask him, or any other Democrat, softball questions any more than he should ask Bush softball questions. After all, we have truth, justice, and the American way on our side.

1. The more I read about it I think Wallace duped himself...
perhaps even deluded himself that he could take the Big Dawg on...Clinton bitch slapped him as soon as Wallace tried to attack him...
Clinton is a master at this game and Wallace was a novice....

4. I'm glad it happened, too. Haven't we all waited FIVE YEARS for Bill

Clinton to finally defend himself from all those lies that were being spread about him after 9-11?

How did he keep quiet for so long?

Especially after at least 8 books were written between 2001 and 2005, by the hitmen of the RW machine laying the blame for 9-11 on him.

I couldn't have held my tongue for so long. I can't think of many people who would be as patient as Clinton has been these past five years with the most heinous of lies being told against them.

8. Ya' know, in my neophyte fashion I can begin to see the
picture.

Clinton could not slap back as president because, before bush, a president in America just does not take a swing at another citizen-the sides just don't match up.
Not only that, but Clinton was not financially capable-like Jimmy Carter-of taking a case to the civil courts before retiring.

Now, of course, he is well heeled enough to be dangerous as a private citizen. Brains, charisma, charm, power, money, and a beautiful wife who may well become the next president of the United States.

He is in a unique position of being able to fight unencumbered.

10. Was it the RIGHT thing to do?
For the Dem party in 2002 and 2004 and every candidate running with the burden that Dems are weak on terror because Clinton did nothing for 8years meme?

For the country?

For the 9-11 families who only wanted the truth to be told?

14. I think the train is now getting properly repositioned on the
tracks.

Things are looking up quite nicely and I am pleased with it.
The Country will never be the same, but that may turn out to be a good thing.

15. Tell that to the 9-11 families who had to fight tooth and nail for a scrap
of truth. They didn't HAVE to go through that.

Neither did Max Cleland. Or Tom Daschle.

All Bill Clinton had to do was confront the lies being spread about him at the same time Bush was being lifted and bronzed on a pedestal. Bill Clinton let that happen and helped pour the bronze with his remarkable support for Bush.

6. I heard that he was mad at his aides for putting him in that position
Edited on Tue Sep-26-06 11:07 PM by Poiuyt
Of course, i think that report was from Chris Wallace, so maybe I should take that with a grain of salt.

It sure looked like there was some pent up desire on Clinton's part to tell how he felt, so maybe he was expecting something.

9. Totally agree...
He knew, but I don't think he expected the framing of that question. That set him off along with the idiotic smirk on Wallace's face.

13. We already know it had nothing to do with his aides.
He was invited on, ostensibly, to discuss his phenomenal money raising performance and his making a profound difference in the world. They guaranteed him that fully half the interview would be about this.

Then that little weasel tried to pull a fast one and drew back a bloody stub.

Clinton blindsided? Not bloody likely!

The neo-clowns and peenackers like to stroke themselves as being the smartest guys in the room but we know that, if the Dawg is in the room, then {i]he is the smartest guy in the room!

He's good. New let's use him while he is using us and we can succeed mightily.

12. I was thinking the same thing this evening
dumb shit Chris Wallace has really put this issue right out there - like Keith said last night Bill Clinton said what we have all wanted to say but haven't - and didn' Hillary say today that if her husband's administration had received a PDB that said OBL determined to strike in US that she is sure they would have taken it much more seriously than seems to be the case with the devil in chief's admin....best thing Hillary has said in ages

Its out there now - really out there - Devil in Chief DID NOTHING didn't even try to stop it - how could he possibly make us safer....

Yep thanks Chris you did us all a BIG FAVOR.
