Pastor Becky Fischer, the camp's leader, says the point of the camp is to encourage attendees to "take back America for Christ."
"I want to see young people who are as committed to the cause of Jesus Christ as the young people are to the cause of Islam," she said.

Some less-extreme Christians, including radio talk-show host Mike Papantonio, fear the children at Kids on Fire are being used as political pawns by adults with an agenda.
Read the articleI'm beginning to really hate abc...and this story from an abc affiliate in supposedly enlightened San Francisco! We've lost an entire network on public airwaves and their spreading RW fundie propaganda. I'd bet that when Pat Robertson sold the abc family channel to disney there was a lot more bargaining with the devil than what we all knew of. This so-called 'Jesus camp' is the latest abomination to appear from a RW aligned with the beast of fundie christianity....and it's a 'let's make christian radicals that are just as intolerant and horrible as the Islamic radicals! The rest of us are in between them.
