DemocraticUnderground will be ten years old (2011) before any appreciable change in the molasses of government is noticed. How scary is that!? Real fucking scary. In other words, we can not really accelerate the process of saving this country. We are stuck with the Constitutionally mandated timetable.
In May 2001, when I signed on to DU as
DemoTex (the Democrat from Texas), I knew things would get bad under my former governor, Mr. Bu$h. However, never in my wildest dreams did I anticipate the state we are in today. Nor did I ever dream that DU would be the
force majeure that it is today. When I invited DUer (and Boston English teacher) Will Pitt for beers at the
Brew Moon in Boston, I did not know that, within a few days and a flight physical, I would never see Boston again as an airline captain; nor did I know that Will Pitt would become one of the best political writers in this country.
This is my spontaneous tribute to the DemocraticUnderground. I'm alone in a Jameson Inn in Auburn, Alabama tonight, and I have just had an epiphany as to how phenomenally important the DemocraticUnderground is to the survival of our republic.
