You Are Running for Office. What Would Your Opponent's Negative Ad Say...
about you?

What would they personally attack you with?

The negative ad against me would be about my porn habits and illegal downloading.

5. I suppose I'd be pretty a pretty easy target
Not involved in the community or politics until 50 something, a sincere enjoyment of adult beverages, prone to consider speed limits as a suggested minimum, unable to sustain a personal relationship for more than 29 years. Oh, and I gave up caring for my cat so she could live a better life at my parents.

6. She's one of those animal rights weirdos
and indoctrinates her students with librul propaganda by assigning them readings from a textbook by librul professors from Seattle University. She's also one of those sexual experimentators! She buys a questionable amount of alcohol and has been known to frequent party houses where it is alleged that illegal gambling and marijuana-taking occurs on a regular basis. Worst of all, she's an (gasp) ATHEIST!

7. My Opponent
(said by the bastard with a voice he thinks gives him a godlike presence)

believes that people should have personal, including privacy, rights. I tell you the terraists are everywhere. We need to hunt them down and then lose them. We need to make the american people very, very afraid of them. Because they are everywhere. They could be the person SNORING IN YOUR BED RIGHT NOW!

My opponent states a belief in the dignity and beauty of every human being. That is a COMMUNIST STATEMENT. WE ARE NOT FIGHTING COMMUNISTS ANYMORE, WE ARE FIGHTING TERRAISTS! My opponent is behind the times. My opponent sounds like a pussy pinko hippy type.

My opponent believes that poor people should be sheltered from the heat, and protected from the cold. My opponent believes that people, and their families, should be just GIVEN FOOD FOR FREE! Because they cannot afford to live. Because they can not find a job. This is unamerican. This is not what you should vote for. I will lower your taxes. The cost of everything else may go up 25%, but I will lower your taxes 2%. I promise that.

12. I'm a socialist so --------> He's a godless socialist.
Basically, pull out the same playbook they're using against Bernie Sanders. Also, when you call me a socialist, use the term in a pejorative sense, not an indicative sense. I'll also accept "communist" or "commie" or "pinko."

When you vote for me, you vote against God and American values. I'm an extremist who is out of touch with the working men and women of America. I am a troublemaker class warrior who wants to start a fight between the haves and the have-nots when there has been peace between the two. :sarcasm:

19. It's an insignia of anarcho-syndicalism, a form of libertarian socialism
Edited on Thu Sep-28-06 12:01 AM by Selatius
Black and red flags or stars that are divided in a diagonal fashion are usually used by anarcho-syndicalists and to a lesser extent other anarchist groups/associations. You usually don't see this with more traditional reformist state socialists and definitely not with more Stalinist strains of socialism.

Libertarian socialism (aka Anarchism) is the belief in a society organized along radically democratic principles where the means of production are administered by the workers themselves in mass collectives as opposed to large bureaucratic structures like the state. Noam Chomsky, the man in my avatar, is an anarchist, specifically in the anarcho-syndicalist tendency.

Perhaps the most famous syndicalist union group was the CNT-FAI that was heavily involved in the Spanish Civil War wedged between Fascists backed by the 3rd Reich on one side and Marxist groups supported by Joseph Stalin on the other side. The anarchist communes were eventually overrun and destroyed, but the anarchists' experiment with the mass communes gave us many valuable lessons to build upon and highlighted areas that still need to be improved.

George Orwell wrote about the communes in Homage to Catalonia:

I had dropped more or less by chance into the only community of any size in Western Europe where political consciousness and disbelief in capitalism were more normal than their opposites. Up here in Aragon one was among tens of thousands of people, mainly though not entirely of working-class origin, all living at the same level and mingling on terms of equality. In theory it was perfect equality, and even in practice it was not far from it. There is a sense in which it would be true to say that one was experiencing a foretaste of Socialism, by which I mean that the prevailing mental atmosphere was that of Socialism. Many of the normal motives of civilized life--snobbishness, money-grubbing, fear of the boss, etc.--had simply ceased to exist. The ordinary class-division of society had disappeared to an extent that is almost unthinkable in the money-tainted air of England; there was no one there except the peasants and ourselves, and no one owned anyone else as his master.

18. Interesting. Frightening, actually.
Hm. They'd mention that I'm out of work (stay-at-home mom) and have been for over six years now. They'd of course call me a liberal, Commie-lovin' scum (I did a semester in Russia in college). I'm sure they'd find a way to use my kids against me (they're a bit, um, wierd).

What would really piss the Republicans off, though, is that I used to be an evangelical Christian, even went to an evangelical college. I'm a stay-at-home mom who still goes to church, just not one they know or are comfortable with (Eastern Orthodox). My hubby's one of the best docs in town, and he's for a national health care plan and is a serious Dem. Our kids go to Catholic school (faith thing).

In other words, they'd be furious that I'm not Republican. I'm sure they'd do whatever they could to smear me. Right now, their best weapon would be that we haven't lived here all that long and that I don't have a paying job (unless you count teaching knitting at the Art Center).

I'd be my own worst enemy, though. I get mad and don't always watch what I say very carefully.

to list all the evil commie pinko liberal things I'd vote for. And I don't believe in God. Do you want me voting to take little children's prayers away from them? Oh, and I was a drunken slut in my twenties. AND I got scammed.

Needless to say, because of those last two things, I won't be running. :)

Well, the abortion was almost 20 years ago, but they'd play it like I had it yesterday and decided on the flip of a coin.

24. He hung out with Marxist, anarchist, and homosexuals.
He lived in a commune. He crossed race lines, smoked dope, took peyote and lived in a tent. He could do it all again if he has a mind to.

He's an Atheist, union man, and feminist. He'd rather spend time with Gatewood Galbraith than Pat Robertson. Oh yeah, and he hasn't shaved for 36 years.
