He lost a contested Repub primary after he ran attack ads against his own primary opponent calling her an ultra liberal. I don't see him doing any better, especially not this year...

Also, if I remember, his antigay rhetoric 2 years ago he didn't use the terms "gay and lesbian", he used some um, other terms and was literally trying to appeal to the Fred Phelps constituency. That is beyond the most reprehensible ad I have ever seen. It shows how much a person is willing to distort the truth in order to deceive the voters. Rumsfeld and the repukes are the ones who didn’t give the body armor the troops needed. It was Rumsfeld who said ‘you go to war with the army you have’ rather than the best one in the world.

Are you so desperate that you can’t even be honest in a political ad? At one time I voted for the best person for the job. It was about the one who was the most qualified. Sometimes republican and sometimes democrat. It’s people like you, Vern, who have repulsed me enough to swear off voting for anyone with an ‘R’ next to their name.

I was going to ask how can you sleep at night, but I’m sure you sleep very well knowing that you are willing to sink so low in order to get a job.

...he has been pushing robocalls for weeks with nothing but lies. He is drawing a heck of a lot of money from outside the state to challenge Brad Miller. He prides himself as being like Jesse Helms, and his vicious campaign bears many of the characteristics of a Karl Rove bag of dirty tricks.

Many of his campaign ads show him when he was younger, wearing a uniform, and only briefly as he looks today.

I don't think he has much of a chance of winning this district, but you never know what will happen when you factor in the electronic voting machines they are supposed to use for the first time.
