bill clinton's "meltdown"
keep hearing this repeated on the news. over and over and over and over. it will become accepted fact. this discourse diminishes the TRUTH a FORMER PRESIDENT spoke to corporate media power. if they can do that to him, they can do that to anybody.

this can't JUST be about money. how does bush get off the hook, day after day after day after day after day? why is pissy, impetuous, spoiled child behavior and his maltreatment of the press never pointed out, why are his thoughts and his words never diminished? is he above reproach?

it doesn't make any sense.

1. Sold his soul to the devil? Maybe he really is the devil?
Honestly, anymore - I'm willing to believe anything. Bush is nothing but a fuck up but yet gets away with more than imagineable.

4. i guess money can inure people to idiocy
and make them believe anything. and yes, i agree with you that the trillions of dollars floating around for ONLY the very wealthy could make them accept a soviet russia type press that manufactures news and lies on a daily basis.

7. And it can buy a soviet russia type press....
The game of hiding true ownership through middlemen and interlocking boards goes back to the 19th century robber barons.

5. it worked with dean, kerry, michael moore
and how many other people. but that's not the point. they ARE lying, they are FRAMING the republican party's skewed message, they are aiding and abetting this country's slide into totalitarianism.

6. Where do you keep hearing this?
I've had the news on for 90 minutes this morning and haven't heard a word. I'm curious about which station continues to carp about the Big Dawg.

9. cnn this morning
the one mouthbox with a pretty tie slipped it in "bill clinton's meltdown."

they sandwich these remarks between two unrelated ideas for some reason.

12. Thanks. I've been watching NBC so far.
I'll be switching over to MSNBC shortly.

Is it Solea"dud?" Isn't she usually on in the morning?

I can't stomach most of what CNN airs. If I tune in at all, it's only for Lou Dobbs or Anderson Cooper.

It's unfortunate that CNN is still hooring to smear Clinton a la Faux, but I guess it's not that surprising. :-(

8. Bush has a real meltdown every day
and the M$M ignores it.

Half the time he's falling down drunk and not even a mention in the M$M.

They are all in it together and they are all going down together. I hear there's still good deals on condos in the Eight Ring of Hell.

18. "Bush's Meldown!"
The word 'meltdown' should be associated with 'BUSH,' not Clinton.

"Chris Wallace's meltdown" works too.

10. MSM is a corporate mouthpiece
I don't understand why you have trouble with this. If it is good for corporate America, the MSM will attack w.

Since jocking Bush is good for corporations, the media jocks Bush.

11. it's not so much a problem
don't know how to characterize it.

the corollary would be having to listen to an adult in a position of authority continually tell me that leprechuans paint the sky green every morning.

and trust me, i am a big fan of nonsense, non sequitur, shit like that, but the LYING being propped as truth, the dissembling, the disingenuousness: on second thought i do have a problem with it. i think the republican party controls the media--it's more than money. there are editorial managers, decision-makers who AGREE with rove and it has been very apparent since 2001.

13. It will NOT become accepted fact ...
My theory, which is mine. Well, this theory, that I have, that is to say, which is
mine,... is mine.

The reason the media is playing it like this is fact is that Clinton slammed one of their own. Remember Steve Colbert's slam at the Correspondants' Dinner? The first couple days, it wasn't even reported on, only after being pestered and clips showing up online, did they cover it and was a bitchslap dismissive attitude. Why? Because they looked bad.

Now Mr. Clinton gave Fox News, and the media itself, a smack because of their questioning of how he handled Bin Laden. You gonna make us look bad? Fine, we're gonna do the same to you.

Other than "journalists" and rightwingers, people ARE asking questions about what Bill said. What about the first 8 months? What about the information given to this administration? Why didn't they do anything for the attack on the USS Cole?

This was supposed to be a one-two punch on Clinton and the Dems. The Path to 9/11 was treated with curiostiy, but that's it. And this, instead of showing the left as weak on defense, has actually gotten people to question aloud "what HAS the Bush administration done?".

A "meltdown" is when a person speaks/acts irrationally when pressured. Bill came out a man who can get upset, but he answered the question, gave facts and showed he knew what was happening when he was president. If the media wants a real example of a meltdown, just show one of Bush's recent press confrences.

15. i'm not agreeing with the media's questionable analysis
i watched that clip and i thought bill clinton did an admirable job and spoke directly to the newsdemon what needed to spoken and THE WAY IN WHICH IT NEEDED TO BE SPOKEN to their ilk since 1998.

that's the source of the disconnect for me: i didn't see him "meltdown." i saw him speak truth to corporate media power. i saw him humiliate a newsdemon.
