Why do we support the Loyal No Position Party?
Edited on Thu Sep-28-06 07:58 AM by Warren Stupidity
I guess I am breaking DU rules here. I've lost faith. I am at the end of my rope. I realize that we have been roved right into this position, but here we are: the opposition party refuses to oppose tyranny, the opposition party has no strongly held positions on any issues. What we have is the Loyal No Position Party. I ask all of you, I repeat Philosoraptor's question: what is the line? What will it take? When have we had enough?

The plot to reframe the election is now pretty clear. This summer we had the two Big Terra cases: the Miami Morons who it seems were going to walk to Chicago and manually pull down the sears tower at the direction of an FBI informer, and the London Hairgel Airplane Toilet Bombers who, at the direction of an MI5 informant were going to sneak onto airplanes without actually having any tickets or passports, and carefully mix deadly explosive devices made out of common household ingredients while sitting on the toilet in an airplane bathroom. These concocted terror plots were designed to demonstrate that our secret war against Ultimate Evil is actually going quite well.

Then we have the mockumentary Path to Blaming Clinton for Everything Especially 9-11. Here the plot becomes quite clear: Democrats are not Strong on Terra. The followup of course is the Coordinated Bullshit Media System's interview with Mr. Softee himself, Wallace vs Clinton. The sound bite: President not-so-stupid saying 'I failed to get bin Laden'. Over and over and over 'I failed to get bin Laden'.

Selective leaking of the NIE on The Holy and Perpetual War on Terra: Iraq is the source of all things Jihad. Oh wait, my mistake, that leak was an accident. Terra and Iraq, Iraq and Terra. Must succeed. Sure it is a bad war and there is no end in sight and it is creating more and better trained jihadists, but IF WE FAIL OH MY GOD!

And then finally we have torture and star chambers and retroactive immunity. And our Loyal No Position Party once again cannot stand up and say no. They cannot be 'soft on terra', they cannot take a risk to Do The Right Thing so close to this next election, an election that they will once again, despite the manifest malfeasance, corruption, and incompetence of the worst government our republic has ever suffered through, lose. And our Loyal No Position Party will go back to its highpriced beltway consultants who will tell them that they lost because they are too left, too secular, too soft on terra.

They will have lost because they stand for nothing. They give the people no reason to vote for them. Their strategy is to hope that the theo-fascists screw up so badly that nobody, not even their base, can vote for them.

If by some miracle the Loyal No Position Party manages to capture one chamber of congress in November does anybody here think that they will have the courage and unity to actually hold this administration accountable?

1. Even those afraid, but basically moral leaders are better than "pure evil"
We will help them find their spine, or vote them out in their very next Democratic Primary. :hi:

3. Will we?
We voted out Joe Lieberman, and yet there he is. I will go out and vote, continue to pour good money after bad down the toilet of the DNC, and even help out as much as I can, but we aren't going to win and if we do we are not going to do anything.

Being at the end of ones rope is always a relative experience. One then discovers that nothing much has changed and you just keep on truckin'.

2. No position?
Don't fall for that line. Do you want to read about Democratic positions? Read this story from way back in June about Sherrod Brown. It's loaded with Democratic positions.http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060611/NEWS09/606110405/-1/NEWS

5. "The Loyal Opposition Who Refuses To Oppose"
The problem isn't that the Democrats have no position. The problem is that many of it's positions are effectively identical to those of the Ruling Party.

I became thoroughly disillusioned with the Democrats when I was a delegate to the 1998 Washington State convention. After a hard-fought battle to bring a resolution supporting equal marriage to the convention, Janice Van Cleve, one of the leaders for the resolution, bought support by telling elected delegates that they were not in any way obligated to actually follow through, that the state platform was nothing more than a propaganda piece which elected officials could ignore at will. Sadly, that position defines well nearly every elected Democrat.

6. What will it take?
The way I see it only a total collapse of the system is going to bring about reform.

7. I'm with you friend
Being someone who wore the uniform and who would still sacrifice myself to get my country back, I too wonder why we continue to support those who make a great noise, but when it actually comes to
doing the right thing have cinsistently failed.

There are exceptions, unfortunately not enough. 34 Democrats in the House voted in favor of torture,
including Harold Ford Jr., what a waste of space.

I know that there are those here who will jump to the defense of these traitors to the Constitution,
for that is what they are. They spit on that document for their own gain, not because they have any true desire to represent the people or to defend the Constitution, but because they want to wield power. First it was the AUMF and then it was the Patriot Act, followed by Patriot Act II, now it's
the Torture Act.

For the defenders, when is it enough, when is it time to denounce the traitors, when do we spit at their feet and call them for the war criminals that they truly are. Will you wait until you are arrested for "supporting" terror because of your beliefs, or will you hold out until you hear stories of internment camps.

The time for backing all Democrats just because they have a D after their names is long gone. We the people must tell them that they are soon to be considered war criminals under international law, and that we can no longer support them.

The time is coming when we will all have to make a choice, to fight to bring our country back to sanity, or to run and hide!

I made my choice when I swore my allegiance to this country and the document that created it, the Constitution of the United States.

11. Your argument is overwhelming, I concede.
Did you want to explain your position or should I just agree with you on faith and the strength of your convictions?
