"Poll: Lieberman Leads Lamont in Conn."

HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) - Sen. Joe Lieberman has a 10-point advantage over Democrat Ned Lamont among likely Connecticut voters, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday.

Lieberman, a three-term Democrat running as an independent after losing the party nomination in a primary, is favored by 49 percent to 39 percent over Lamont in the three-way race. Republican Alan Schlesinger trails with 5 percent.

The race has tightened slightly since an Aug. 17 poll that showed Lieberman leading 53 percent to 41 percent.

"Ned Lamont has lost momentum," said poll director Douglas Schwartz said. "He's gained only two points in six weeks. He's going to have to do something different in the next six weeks or ... Lieberman stays in for another six years."

seems to be a lot of are people who are "used" to Lieberman. They may not like him but at least they KNOW him. Also, I think Lamont started late with new ads and imo they are too directed at Democrats, not a wider audience. There is still a little over a month to go. I am hoping some people still aren't really paying much attention and that Lamont will come out with some better ads.

That single issue won the primary for Lamont, since those who say the Iraq War is the most important issue are likely to be Democrats, IMO.

1. It's not a lie...

It's a recommendation, not a statement of fact, so it can't be regarded as a lie.

A lot of people on DU, like myself, (i.e., non-DLCers, and not power junkies) recommend that all Democrats vote Democratic.

You are free to think whatever you wish although that psoting
that statement might be construed as a personal attack.

Meanwhile, I think the recommendation (to always vote for
the D) has proven to be a losing strategy in that it simply
ensures that we're given more and more awful Democrats to
hold our noses and vote for. These Democrats stand for less
and less, giving people less and less reason to vote for them,
ensuring that we lose more and more.

Running some actual Democrats who are proud of what they
stand for might produce different results.

1. If it is true that lefties must "hold our noses"
and vote for whatever DINO the DLC pukes up in any
given race, then...

2. You would think the same rule would hold true
for DLC-oriented "Democrats" when we lefties actually
manage to win a primary and run a real Democrat: The
DLC types should "hold their noses" and vote for
the Democrat, no matter how lefty they perceive him
to be.

The fact that Lamont (the actual Democratic candidate,
as you so accurately observed) *APPEARS TO BE
LOSING TO A THIRD-PARTY CANDIDATE* in a
state that leans pretty heavily Democratic suggests
to me that the DLC-types who are always advising us
to "hold our noses" and vote for their Bozo are not
willing to return the favor when the shoes are on
our guy.

I further suggest that lefties remember this the
next time it's the DLC that is once again urging us
to "hold our noses and vote for the Democrat", even
if the "Democrat" supports torture, opposes women's
rights, gay rights, etc.
