where is the humanity. . .? an alternative idea. . .
Edited on Thu Sep-28-06 11:55 AM by stellanoir
Okay most of us are deeply disturbed and morally outraged by this legislation that is pending that will essentially abolish habeas corpus, and potentially give these criminals retroactive and lasting impunity for crimes against humanity. On this matter, I presume most of us can agree.

Regardless of both the overt inhumanity involved, and the fact that so called "intelligence" derived through these means is rarely credible, or the fact that the Red Cross has repeatedly said that the vast majority of these detainees are innocent, if these folks cower and pass this idiotically inhumane legislation, that will more than likely, do nothing but "perpetuate (further) retribution," they will be nuking the rule of law for a very long while.

Speaking of long whiles, we're talking about abolishing what has been commonsensical for 791 years and has woven together the very fiber of some of the more redemptive aspects of western civilization.

I've said this before but when the collective dialogue was going on and on about "a pre 9/11 mentality," and Feingold so brilliantly responded that "they've got a pre 1776 mentality," I furthered that "they've got a pre Magna Carta mentality." Still, I didn't think they'd actually revoke it legally to achieve lasting and thoroughly undeserved impunity.

So we're all irked and may or may not have contacted our Senators and they may or may not care or have responded. So just because it may appear that is all we can do. . .let's perhaps try a little energetic experiment instead.

I don't have time to explain in explicit detail the metaphysical reasons that I feel this may just work as there is not time. It's worth a try though IMHO since traditional or linear means of rectification seem to not be working very well at all at present.

This won't take much time or effort but whenever you get sickened by the likelihood of this torture bill passing, consider closing your eyes (that is, if you're not operating heavy machinery) and imagine the Capital Building bathed in violet-purple light and consider further saying aloud, "I'm co-creating with spirit that the United States of America will soon become increasingly, not less, humane."

If you don't believe in spirituality, that's fine and I won't try to convince you of it. Yet in my partially 13th generational american self, I feel in my heart and soul that it's worth a momentary leap of faith, and a small percentage of the energies that you normally spend on typing and kvetching here.

Thanks in advance for your consideration and

may all beings be happy.

1. Well that's easy enough to do...how could I refuse?
And you are right it just could work. I say that but i believe that it will happen whether we want it to or not because the world and our government must change if we are to survive.
A world sliding downward in it's humanity cannot survive unless the slide is stopped. It is not the fall that kills you but the stop at the bottom.

4. Powerful thought manifestation
Thanks for this suggestion, I will try it. I'm sure it will have a good effect on the fear level at the capitol bldg. And diffuse some of the pressure and bullying that is taking place behind the scenes.

6. K&R What is the matter with us.
Why is there no outrage from the logical places...the pulpit. What's the matter with them. Are they studying scripture to see if this is an abomination. I can short circuit it...yes it is, without any doubt. Name a tradition, well lets take mine Christianity. I can't think of a single sentence in the New Testament that proclaims the "good news" of torture. Judaism, Buddhism, Islam...find me the torture please. It's not there. Torture is an outrage. Where are these folks? And the political parties? Oh sorry. How about the American Bar Association and all the state bars, where are they? This is the most disgusting thing a president has done. He lauds torture and there is a great sense of pain among ordinary citizens, I've heard it for a week or two now. But from any established entities...what are they doing, why do they even exist if they are so insensitive as to now understand it's time to speak out, shout out...this is madness.

17. Did you see the poll
that said respondents who identified as religious were approx. 10% more likely to agree that some people just need to be tortured than respondents who identified as secular? I think it was by the Pew Foundation, released earlier this week.

Last year I read a book entitled "Lives of the Saints." It was titled that in error, because it was largely about *deaths* of the saints, generally under torture. That's usually what qualifies a saint for sainthood: not letting the thumbscrews shake your faith.

Good works sometimes qualify-- Saint Nicholas was canonized because he used to leave secret gifts of food and money in poor people's houses, and he still does so in his current gig as Santa Claus. But most of the saints we remember died most painfully.

This is the same culture that dreamed up trial by ordeal, wherein if you die during the process it means you really were innocent because Heaven accepted you, while if you live you're really guilty so we kill you anyway. And then there's that charming concept from the Inquisition where a confession of faith elicited under torture is the best possible outcome for your immortal soul, at which point we will kill you anyway to ensure that you meet Jesus in a state of grace.

20. Like when they burned the heretics,
they used to say they didn't believe their faiths were untrue, they were merely putting their beliefs to the test of fire.

Reincarnationalists I guess were they. (???)

I just heard a report on the radio about a book though I didn't catch it's title and couldn't access a link. The author was talking about there being no possible reconciliation EVER between the three Abrahamic religions and they were all BS. He was adamant.

Yikes.

Down with dogma here and all for spiritual solutions instead of fundamentalism for sure. But this guy was really heavy handed and intense and not without legitimate insight into all three.

10. Well there are as many theories on this as there are
Edited on Fri Sep-29-06 08:33 AM by stellanoir
those who've speculated upon it. The general consensus is that white light is enlightening and the protective light of the Creator (aka "mighty IAM presense" who I affectionately refer to as the Creatrix because it's playful and non gender specific.) I've no problem with that whatsoever.

The problem I do have is that of dualism wherein all is seen as black or white, left or right, red or blue, or associated with the now obsolete labels wherein extremism is masquerading as conservatism and liberalism is misrepresented as being extremist. In my little universe there are simply far more than two points of view.

Since blue plus red equals purple and purple has always been associated with spirituality and the one influence that potentially unifies all REAL human beings (of which all homo sapiens are not) is their REAL humanism itself (aka real basic stuff like do unto others. ..)

I feel projecting this color can transform existing conditions whereas using white light on our capital solely, when it's coupled with the amount of vitriol and hatred projected by so many here might just be having an unintended influence of empowering these despicable sub humans and keeping them in power longer. It certainly seems to be so.

I can't prove it but it's a definitely distinct sense I've had for a very long time.

Maybe white light is for those you love but not for those you loathe.
Who knows. . .?

Right after 9/11, in a massive e-mail sending I put out I foolishly suggested that folks consider praying for *'s enlightenment as he seemed so ill equipped to deal. Boy did that ever not work. I stopped hoping for that as soon as he went on his shadow projection binge and "evil doer" kick. That was when most more thoughtful speculation as to the causality of the motivation for those attacks was summarily silenced and seen as unpatriotic.

Now that this heinous bill has been passed and will unquestionably have one of *'s not so delightful over reaching signing statements attached, I'm still going to violet-purple light the Capital (and maybe SCOTUS) and maybe throw in a splash of indigo for the mid-terms.

Would that it were we could indigo all the EVM's in the country, we'd stand a far better chance though.

Oh well.

15. We can agree to disagree on this one
and you can write me off as a mere Saint Germain groupie. :)

Since white light contains all colors it's empowering them all equally.

That's why this morning I started throwing in a splash of indigo for good measure.

And thanks.
