Has Hezbollah ever attacked or made threats against the US?
Kit Bond just said that the justice department should not have to provide a list of approved torture techniques. If they do, then Al Qaeda, Hezbollah and all other organizations will put those techniques in their manuals and train against them.

As far as I know, Hezbollah's fight is not with us. What a moron he is.

And now Domenici is up, reminding us of how many bad people are out there waiting to do us harm. Why is he yelling?

1. This may shock you.
But terrorist groups tend to cross-train and help each other out.

Is anyone bitterly amused at the United States considering a list of "approved" torture?

I guess we can still imagine ourselves noble and innocent if we don't list what we do.

2. This may also shock you: "terrorist" groups aren't completely unjustified
in their attacks against the west.

One could say that they're right to fight back and retaliate against western invasion, intrusions and occupations in their lands.

Wrap your noggin around that.

8. Hmm. Never said they weren't.
But I don't actually give a good goddamn why someone commandeers a plane and flies it into a crowded office building.

I don't care WHY someone blows up a bus or a market or a restaurant. That's when my sympathy just oozes out the door.

They've found a technique that works for them? I agree with Bill Clinton. It doesn't work. It's a nasty substitute for real political action. Frankly, terrorism is the choice George W. Bush would make if he were in charge of a small, cowardly group trying to take control without offering any actual improvement in the lives of its people.

Go bleed for them in another direction. I'm not mopping it up.

12. Terrorism IS the choice bush made, he's just got the US government backing
him.

Hamas, al queda and hezbollah are made up of people who are fighting back against the west's encroachment into the nations of the middle east. Think of them as the well organized militias defending their nations...

There is little difference between some guys who had the balls to die for their own causes and some guys who get a paycheck signed by the president of the USA and funded by US taxpayers. People still get dead.

So far, more than 300,000 of them are dead in iraq, and 12,000 in Afghanistan. Simply because they don't want any more of the western version of truth, justice and the democratic ways.

Go figure.

People have the right to fight back and oppose that which is killing them.

16. Then you will be in perpetual war !
Of course, you do not approve of THEIR methods, and the do not approve
of YOUR methods...

A weaker force will always use so called "terrorism"... Thats all they have..

What makes humans superior to animals, is our ability to reason. Lets use it.

19. The attacks by those alleged to be terrorists will stop if the US &
western influences and occupations get out of the middle east.

Bin laden has always said this.

So leave the middle east. Then it stops. That seems like the appropriate solution.

And the fact that these morons assume anyone picked up and detained are already guilty. That could be us someday.

9. It WILL be us.
Since the first moment of the Patriot Act, I have absolutely believed the entire intention of the Bush agenda was to be freely able to arrest and detain American citizens for any opposition to their policies.

Nothing has happened to make me believe otherwise.

4. They killed 241 US Marines.
So, yes, they have attacked us in the past.

They have regularly issued threats against America and American interests but how much of that is blowhard rhetoric I don't know.

None of that gives us a right to torture them for intel.

6. Try Google.
It was during the Reagan administration and probably one of his biggest failures. If I have time later I'll dig.

7. I found this; although not clear if Hezbollah was behind it -
A suicide bomber detonated a truck full of explosives at a U.S. Marine barracks located at Beirut International Airport; 241 U.S. Marines were killed and more than 100 others wounded. They were part of a contingent of 1,800 Marines that had been sent to Lebanon as part of a multinational force to help separate the warring Lebanese factions. (Twice during the early 1980s the U.S. had deployed troops to Lebanon to deal with the fall-out from the 1982 Israeli invasion. In the first deployment, Marines helped oversee the peaceful withdrawal of the PLO from Beirut. In mid-September 1982 -- after the U.S. troops had left -- Israel's Lebanese allies massacred an estimated 800 unarmed Palestinian civilians remaining in refugee camps. Following this, 1,800 Marines had been ordered back into Lebanon.)

In his September 2001 FRONTLINE interview, Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger said the U.S. still lacks "actual knowledge of who did the bombing" of the Marine barracks. But it suspected Hezbollah, believed to be supported in part by Iran and Syria. Hezbollah denied its involvement.

The president assembled his national security team to devise a plan of military action. The planned target was the Sheik Abdullah barracks in Baalbek, Lebanon, which housed Iranian Revolutionary Guards believed to be training Hezbollah fighters. Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger aborted the mission, reportedly because of his concerns that it would harm U.S. relations with other Arab nations. Instead, President Reagan ordered the battleship USS New Jersey, stationed off the coast of Lebanon, to the hills near Beirut. The move was seen as largely ineffective.

Four months after the Marine barracks bombing, U.S. Marines were ordered to start pulling out of Lebanon.

10. Here's another link naming Hezbollah - CNN though
http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/05/30/iran.barracks.bombing/

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Iran is responsible for the 1983 suicide bombing of a U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, that killed 241 American servicemen, a U.S. District Court judge ruled Friday.

U.S. District Judge Royce C. Lamberth said the suicide truck bombing was carried out by the group Hezbollah with the approval and funding of Iran's senior government officials.

14. There's a big difference
between al-Qaida and Hezbollah. Hezbollah would have nothing to gain from staging an attack on American soil. And as they're shi'ites they probably back the Shi'ite dominated govt in Iraq and not than the insurgents.

17. Not really.
While Hezbollah sometimes talks trash against the US, they don't really have any interest in doing anything, because that would disrupt the funding that they get from here, and elsewhere. Their interests really are in the Israelis' corner, particularly in kicking the Israelis out of the Shebaa Farms region.

is in ending Israeli occupation, and they consider all of Israel to be occupied territory. They make no bones about it.

26. True, but there's an open question whether they really want that.
More on the leadership level than on the ground. Hezbollah and Israel are kind of like the Republicans and abortion. They can keep the base better motivated, and themselves in power, if they have a boogeyman to rail against. The same principle applies to the Iranians, to the Cubans in south Florida, etcetera.

anything Kit Bond says. He is as disgusting as it gets. Drowning us all in their gravy spills.

Those two are just willing mouthpieces. Behind the curtain one looks to see who is pulling the strings. Trust me here, I know for a fact Kit Bond has never had an original thought in his life.
