A deal was made to avoid a filibuster???

A woman caller to Thom's show just said she called Patty Murray's office to urge a filibuster and she was told a deal was made, if the ammendments were allowed to be debated and voted on they wouldn't filibuster. The staffer told her the only thing we can do is vote them out in November. I don't know if this is true, but why would a staffer say it if it wasn't true?

He's getting Republicans on record as specifically abrogating habeas corpus and other Constitutional rights, and then he's getting Democrats out of town to go campaign back home.

Today's votes could provide good ammo for Democratic campaign ads against Republicans in up-for-grabs states. Let's see whether Dean and company actually use that ammo before final judgments on very difficult Party strategy decisions this week.
