No, of course not. If the international community view this president for the war criminal that he is, it will not matter what our federal law says. What matters is how the international community interprets Article 3.

It's not just legitimizing torture, it's not just gutting habeas corpus. This vote essentially gives one man the right to disappear and torture anyone he wishes to, and provides no check or review by the people or the courts of that power. That, in my opinion amounts to the destruction of America.

Therefore Bush's rallying cry of the last five years has come to pass. The terrorists have won. They have destroyed America.
