Bob Woodward's New Book: State of Denial: Disses BUSH; Worse Than We Know
Anybody know about this? This on NBC Nightly News. Bob Woodward is coming out with this new book soon, bashing Bush and saying there's a deception coming from the WH in terms of how bad it really is.

1. Watching it now...
It's blistering.

Makes me wonder if Woodward played nice with bush in order to get this kind of info.

9. Nah. Bob banked too much of his credibility with the Bush family and now
he's worried they're going to be exposed, so he needs to ADD some real credibility into his account by imparting a few truths.

Somehow, though, I expect he'll soften the blow for them in the long run - just from long habit.

3. Unfortunately, most people think he's a liberal
Edited on Thu Sep-28-06 05:39 PM by NewJeffCT
Because he helped to bring down a conservative (though not by today's standards) Republican and was portrayed in the movie by Robert Redford, an outspoken liberal.

So, it will be dismissed as part of the "liberal media"

4. I heard when his Plan of Attack book came out...
that Woodward likes to cozy up to the administration and then come out with a book later that will blast the administration.

I guess that's his M.O.

6. A political wind is blowing obviously
and Woodward doesn't want to be on the wrong side. I expect we'll see more of the media whores lining up to take their shots. They know what's coming.

8. Woodward is more than a media whore, however
His connections, and the fact that this book is coming out now, are possibly a sign that some big players on the far right are none too happy with Team Bush right now.

H20 Man can enlighten you a lot more than me, however.

16. That's interesting. Can you give me a link to H20man's idea?
I love to get into stuff like this. I have theories of my own, so I am very interested in hearing about others'.

If this is a sea change, it could signal a big shift. That gives me hope, even during this time when hope sinks with the Dems on Capital Hill voting for torture. I am glad I'm going to Italy right before Election Day in November. It will be good to just get lost in the art of Rome, Florence and Siena.

17. He's posted a few things over the years on Woodward
But, he was a Navy (I think) intelligence officer before he joined the Post... and, when he was in college, he associated with groups that tried to bring Nixon down because Nixon was too liberal for them.

18. What "Post" was H20 Man associated with?
Sorry to be so dense. I'm just trying to get some of his writings on line.

I head meant before Woodward joined the Washington Post, he was part of Navy Intelligence (I think it was the Navy?)

11. Bob the Weathervane will be on 60 Minutes Sunday;
that's where the first revelations (if there are any) will come out, per Wolf Blitzer's more or less breathless report.

19. He's Still Burning From Being Outted On Being A Plame Leak Source
Yep, Woody The Weathervane is trying to both regain some "street cred" here and cash in on what appears to be a growing booosh bashing book market. Soon we'll have all these stenographers with their "who lost Iraq" tomes as if they were on another planet when this went down.

Right now any bad publicity splash on this regime...especially on Iraq isn't a bad thing...even if it is from a weasel like Woodward.
