6. I will work hard for a Democratic ticket this fall
I will keep the faces of good Democrats like Sen. Leahy who fought the good fight on this bill in front of me and vote FOR them. I will vote FOR the good Dems who voted to uphold the Constitution and the international laws of justice. I will do it for them because they don't deserve to be punished because of the cowardly actions of others.

There are many people who I can vote for, who withstood the pressure to cave in and vote for a dictatorship in this country. I owe them and I intend to repay that debt with action at the ballot box.

After all, anything less would be un-American.

7. I'd like to believe it wouldchange something
Most days I do. But after this, even if we get a Democratic Congress, are they raelly going to start rolling back some of these bills? Or are they going to continue to let Bush have his way, in hope of looking toough on torture?

11. Well, of course I'll vote straight Dem.
But the torture Dems are getting an angry e-mail from me. I'm not letting them slide on this one.

*sigh*
Not that an angry e-mail is going to do or mean a whole hell of a lot.

13. Be careful of straight-ticket voting on some machines, though.
I remember that got nasty/tricky in Florida 2000.

Is it very wrong to wish a bad and painful end for anyone who voted for the torture bill?

15. OK Will We Get It
Edited on Thu Sep-28-06 08:03 PM by Warren Stupidity
I too will be voting straight Democratic. However I have no fucking illusions whatsoever about how effective the Democratic Party might be if it accidentally falls into control of one or both houses of congress. We will be woefully ineffective in changing course, in investigating or prosecuting malfeasance and corruption, in getting to the bottom of what has really happened here since 98 or 94 or however far back this shit actually started.

Instead the coalition of enablers and criminal conspirators on both sides of the aisle will continue to do their thing, they will just do so with a little less ease than they do now.

The is going to be settled in the streets.

16. Me too.
Luckily I have a man like Ned Lamont to vote for.
However, depending on what state I lived in, I don't know if I could vote straight DEM.
I don't think I could vote for any of the 12 who voted on this torture bill.
Or any DEM who voted for John Roberts or Sam Alito.
Who are DEM who voted for CAFTA or against the stem cell research bill ,etc, etc, etc.......

And that's what I mean in my post above.
It's so sad that these so-called DEMS had to vote this way.
I just don't get the logic.

22. I don't get it either. She's always been a great Dem...
She has Levin to guide her. It just makes me wonder what they got to her with. She has no faith in the voters of Michigan. People who are hurting. People who would more than willingly have overwhelmingly voted for her. :(

BECAUSE I HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE.

Can't say I'm real happy about it, right now.

My "choice" is Carper, who supports Lieberbush (IOW, he OPPOSES the Democratic party) and voted to grant the worst.president.ever the power to suspend the Geneva conventions, habeus corpus, and the basic understanding I've had of what it means to be a human being for my entire life.

Our system is completely broken. Government to the highest bidder.

I'm completely disgusted, tonight.

25. I will be, but not happily. I'll be holding my nose in the booth.
It's the lesser of two evils, and I'm not happy about it, but while it doesn't matter much to me personally (we're financially secure, law abiding and don't have much to lose) it matters a lot to people who are on the edge. I'll take half a loaf now, or even a slice, and work so that there's more bread to share when the time comes.

No matter how angry we get at our own Democratic representatives, we have to keep the larger picture in focus.

OR NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE.

I'm not so sure this legislation is going to work to the Republican's advantage. There's going to be a lot of discussion about this and the more the average voter hears about the ramifications of this unconstitutional law, the more inclined they are going to be to vote against the Syndicate.

34. You are correct.
I am sick of people who say they were voting for the man in rationalizing why they voted for someone who they now feel has violated their trust. The next line is "that person was a disappointment". Bull, he was a Republican, the agenda of the modern Republican party has nothing to do with the Republic, Conservative values, or the Constitution. Republicans are not co-participants in the Democracy, they are now literally the party of fear, corruption, suppression, and murder.

If there is any year to be a yellow dog it is this election year. Diebold is the only way I would vote for a Republican

I'm thoroughly disgusted with . . . be that as it may, if we can get a majority in either house, at least we'll have people with SOME brains for committee chairs . . .

if and when we elect Democrats, though, I intend to keep holding their feet to the fire and blasting them every time they do something ssupremely stupid . . . like voting to legalize torture and bastardize the Geneva Conventions, say . . .
