Another friend of my daughter was killed today

in a car wreck.:cry: This was a very sweet, smart young girl who wanted to go to school in Denton. Her mom was worried for her safety living on campus, so she encouraged her to go closer to Commerce.
She was killed driving to college this morning.
My daughter is devastated. There are no words to make her feel that it is going to be okay.
Three of her friends were involved in auto-pedestrian accidents resulting in the death of two in the last couple of months. Last week, an 18-year old boy died in a car accident.
Now, Jessica. I wish there was something I could do to make the hurt go away.

3. Lots Of Fast Drivers In SUV's These Days

Lots of people in a big fucking hurry in general. I've seen and heard of 2 accidents in the last week which were caused by speeding drivers. One of them resulted in 2 fatalities, the other in critical injuries.

But still, Amerikans buy their BIG cars, and try to drive them as FAST as they can. Get to the next stop light quicker than the other guy.

Sorry for the loss, but I think that's a sign of the times in this country unfortunately. I'm assuming that excessive speed have some involvement in your fatality story.

This is a heartfelt tragedy and you make it so petty as to make it about SUV's? Talk about distasteful.

Hey, bub, I got news for ya... People were dying in auto accidents long before there were SUV's. Don't undermine some innocent person's death for sake of a petty personal gripe.

9. It's More About Speed

If you can't see that people, especially those in Big SUV's or trucks, drive significantly faster, then I can't convince you I guess.

In no way did I diminish her tragedy. I just stated what I see as fact. Every single day I see big trucks tailgating me, speeding through intersections and passing at 80 MPH on the freeway. It's not some far fetched statement.

And of course people have always died in car accidents. But at least where I am, in conservative OC, the drivers take liberties with their vehicles.

But I guess by you there are no fast driving Hummers that drive with reckless abandon. By me, there are. And I've seen fatal accidents caused by SPEED alone which prove that fact.

8. My Heartfelt Sympathies Go Out To You And Your Daughter.

When I was younger I lost a ton of friends as well. Several from suicide, several from drugs, many from auto accidents. It is always such a tragedy when such loss occurs and I know how devastating this must be to your daughter. Just make sure you are there to give her lots of hugs and support and space when necessary.

10. Give her a hug and all the comfort you can

We lost five neighbors a little over a week ago in a fire. A couple and three of their grandkids. The mother of the kids was shot in the head a few years ago by someone who was afraid she would testify in a drug trial. The mom recently had surgery and still recovering from it, so her dad and stepmom were taking care of the kids. One of my friend's sons is especially devastated. He went to school with one of the kids and they hung out together. He's in junior high and he is trying to wrap his head around losing his friend. We knew the kids too. We've helped out in the after school prgrams over the years so we know most of the neighborhood kids by more than just their names. It hurts and it sucks. It just plain fucking sucks.
