Well... according to mainstream media. Just read several MSM treatments of today's events. If they cover it much at all, it seems that, far from doing anything remotely like betraying fundamental American principles, this bill has simply presented President Bush with great "political victory". And provided his fellow Republicans the slogans and sound bites to beat up Democratic opponents in the upcoming elections.

Addressing the concerns express by "some", the dictatorial powers granted the President won't be applied to American citizens because...well..er...uh...well...it just won't.

(A black day in history passes with barely a squeak from a tamed and docile media)

4. W, as fuhrer, was given the right to waive any rules
and detain and torture as he sees fit. And he sees fit a lot as he has allowed the torture of uncharged detainees.

6. Sometimes, liberty falls quietly.
Without a whimper. Just as you have witnessed. Just another day at the office. All is well.
